I'm pretty skinny so other people may not have the same problem with them I do. My problem is that the bottom pad - where my butt lands - is convex instead of flat like most seats, so I always feel like I'm teetering on top of a sphere. Or I end up riding down one side or the other smushed against the bolsters with one side of my a$$ 1/2" higer than the other. It's very strange - I've never encountered seats quite like this. Anyway, the 06 seats have a different butt pad than the 05. That extra panel might flatten it out enough - they obviously put it there for a reason. Don't know what it would take to upgrade them though.

I'm 6' 140lbs or so.....trust me I'm probably just as thin. Seats feel pretty good to me. Typical Subaru firm.

Could just be my seats, or my a$$. Glad they're working for you though. Now go get in your Subaru and haul ass off to Burger King. You look like your're about to blow away.:)

I like them. Wouldn't want to own one though. I like my business in the front and the party in the back.

I like my 05 LGT, but it rattles entirely too much, the climate control is laughably bad and the seats are terrible - like straddling a lopsided beach ball filled with 5-day-old oatmeal. Fast as it is, stuff like that really gets to you after you've had it for awhile. The seats are bad enough that I'd consider trading to the Mazda on that basis alone, if the performance was close enough.
A little rattle here and there is part of the Subaru experience. All I can say is that my WRX rattles a lot less than my old Acura did.
And yeah, I've driven an 05 LGT and did not like the seats either. They look great, but were not comfortable. The most comfortable Subaru seats IMO are those in the 02-03 WRX's. They're not terribly great looking I admit, but man are they comfortable. Especially if you are thinner (I'm 6'2" 175) as they have huge side bolsters. I love 'em.

On the MSM6 forums they are saying there is alot of heat problems with the car that causes to lose up to 30 wheel horsepower.

Might want to check that out, because you don't get the full rating of 276hp unless you use 93 octane. Because of no hoodscoop, they have a limited amount of space to push air through the front, this causes a lot of heatsoak.

Legacy GT is a way better alternative.

I think the power cuts is utter BS.... I've tried pretty hard to see the thing cut out, did exactly as described by people who had the problem, and nothing, the car is perfect in my view so much to the level that I question the legitimacy of the issues alltogether.

Dude, nice car!

I went to Mazda thinking about getting the 6 or the 3, I got a Tribute. I like it OK. The 3 was too small, and the 6 is on consumer reports' used cars to avoid list.

But how hot has it been? I see you're in VA and you haven't had the car long enough to drive it in the heat of summer.

Can someone explain how it has a TMIC and no scoop? No wonder I keep hearing about heat soak. Or is it a FMIC, but just too small?

TMIC. Supposedly the hood is "ducted" so air can move under it from the grill to the IC.

Is there any news out on that yet?... That thing is gonna be sickeningly fast....

I wouldn't hold my breath... they don't want it eating into ms6 sales. I'm just going to wait and see how the turbo kits pan out ;)

Good luck in summer then...

My Impreza's TMIC will soak like fudge if I'm in traffic, but anyone who talks of 'sudden' powerloss and thinks it is heatsoak is talking out of their ass. Heatsoak will reduce performace, but not drop it like a stone.

Overboost, now that's more like it. I've had that on the Impreza and it's like hitting a brick wall. When the turbo produces too much boost (preset according to the ECU map) , the ECU will get rid of all boost through the wastegate and cut the fuel, and it is brutal. This has occasionally happened under full beans on a very cold night to me.

From what I've been reading its more like the ECU is a bit overactive and cuts boost. Maybe an overactive knock sensor?

Nah, then it's overboost, like I mentioned above. A faulty knock sensor would just result in poor performance as the ECU would overfuel.

The problem is that they're knocking horribly in temps over 60F. The MS6 makes 15.6 psi of boost with 9.5:1 compression pistions. That is only possible because of the direct injection fuel system. It seems to me that Mazda may have overestimated the compression ratios possible with direct injection. If so, that would a disaster for them.

I guess we'll have to see... but I've driven the hell out of the car in 65-70 degree temperatures... then let it sit, both on and off... then drove the hell out of it... I've sat in stop and go traffic like only the nations capital has for in excess of 2 hours, when I finally got free... no problem. Sure it's possible that 30 degrees could send the car over the edge into the too hot zone... but I just don't see it being likely. That and the powerloss experiences seem pretty rare.

Believe me if I ever experience the problem I will post on here about it lickety split. But as of now I've had nothing but pure pleasure from my machine... and I just dont see that changing.

The car handles like absolute silk... the acceleration is mindblowing... the price is perfect. It's a fantastic car.

mm.... mazda is really pumping those engines out... mazdaspeed3/6 and CX-7. Now only if I could have waited two years and had an extra 10 grand...

however, we haven't had the consistant blistering heat of july and august.. I'd like to hear your impressions of it then (and during an auto-x... heh)
