Now I have a little less worry about $$ for my kid's college education.

Life is good. I just had to gloat...

I hope you're planning to make it up for he/she by buying them a sweet car since you don't have to pay for University.

Depending on which University, when I graduated in 2004, a year cost me 22k.

Where the hell did you go? A year of tuition at Iowa costs me about 6k. Housing and living expenses, books, and whatnot bring it to about 12k.

Very nice, congrats.

Unfortunately, there are some schools which cost over 30K a year and it is pretty common.

That should last him 2 years at a state school.

Some people think private universities are worth double the costs, I honestly don't believe they offer double the education.

No, they don't, but the mindset is similar to why Harvard Business School is hard to get into - people don't go there for the education, they go for the name and for the connections they make.

I would hold out for a full ride scholarship.

Don't feed him more than twice a day until he gets one.

congrats.

Hope she's going to a public university cause private is EXPENSIVE. (ie: gw university in dc $50k/yr)

$24k per year or $24k total? If $24k total, still worry! But congratulations to the kid anyway. 🙂 Tuition is ridonculous these days.

Congratulations. That amount would cover about half of my tuition + room and board (through the University, but moving out next year so that part will drop in cost) for a year.

Not a he but a she(and yes, she is Asian). Her High school was donated 1k twice in the past 14 months plus she won a trip to Hong Kong for free.

Margaret O' Donnell Student Leadership Program offered by the City club here in San Francisco. Heck, my other daughter got a lunch and a autographed football by Steve Young(ex-49er quarterback) at Candlestick park for writing a essay and winning it.

Life is good.
