Good for you guys. Such little attentions are generally welcome. :)

So, what did you get for Nowheremom?

I thought she died?

Maybe he went to her gravesite and placed some flowers.

Lol,the man just rolled in here with 2 dozen flowers, chocolates and the nicest card for me!

We're in the middle of a north eastern storm here in Boston! :Q

AAAAAAAAWWWW!!!! WHY CAN'T OTHER MEN GET THAT WOMEN LIKE TO BE SURPRISED?!??!!

That is so wonderful! Good for you at having a husband that goes out of his way!

Getting flowers, chocolates and a card on Valentines day is a surprise, now? Yeah, just like it was a surprise getting a cake on my last birthday.

No... she said she told him not to get her anything... then he surprises her with it... thats what i mean. and i think its better for a person to be surprised of a gift than to expect it.

Most men aren't stupid enough to fall into that trap and get the gift anyway.

It isn't a trap. It is a lie on the woman's behalf.

So, you spend most of your time on ATOT knocking on religion and women? It must be tough to be you....

I am happily married to a young beautiful woman and we are expecting. She is christian and we get along perfectly. Haven't been happier.. thanks for asking.

Btw, how does pointing out a blatant lie "knocking women"?

oh right, i forgot you're the one married to the person whom you apparently have no respect for (her beliefs).

It's you trying to bring someone down, being negative, and a general douchebag all around that I'm referring too. I agree that V-day is pretty silly (It means more in the long run to do things of this nature on any other day), but calling it out like that is pretty obnoxious. I don't understand why you have to sh1t on the OP's joy and attempt a thread hijacking.

EDIT: grats on the baby, btw. Out of curiosity, have you discussed with the lady about the child being raised Christian or atheist? I see trouble.... ;)

I am not being negative. She lied to her husband, claiming she didn't want anything when she knew she actually did. She made him play a deceptive game. I look down upon it and am free to call her out on it. She also fell for a 'holiday' that is counted on by corporations to bring them in a huge amount of money. She also used the internet idiot bandwagon term "own" which just furthers my determination of her type of personality.

How is that thread hijacking by addressing the points made in the op.

I am not atheist, so the baby wouldn't be brought up atheist.

I respect other people's beliefs.. doesn't mean that I have to agree with them. This is something most people here don't understand.. you aren't intolerant unless you ACT in judgment. Thoughts can't harm people. Her family is super religious and we get along fine.

The child will be brought up without religion. Meaning that we will not give them any religious ceremonies etc.. however our sets of parents will expose them to their religions(jewish/christian). My wife grew up being forced to go to catholic school and to church every weekend. The child will be free to choose whatever they want to believe in, if anything. We do not feel we should indoctrinate/force our religions(or lack thereof in my case) on a child.

How dare you come in here and spoil my thread!

I do not lie to my husband and certainly wouldn't deliberately deceive him in order to have him risk his safety in order to get me a gift!!

I love my husband very much,I've been feeling poorly for a couple weeks and his totally awesome gestures made my day!!!

You sir are a jerk!

Is this good because he is stereotypical and fell for a ridiculous capitalist holiday?

no you idiot,it's good because he went out of his way to make my day brighter after being told not to feel pressure over this holiday!

Some of you guys are so bad..

You thump women for not expressing gratitude and appreciation for men but when one does so then you're all over it to bash.

He just played into what he considered to be your lie. He played a game... games are for losers.

I thump women for not expressing gratitude and appreciation for men? Link?

Being a typical and average person who has fallen for a holiday that was made to make money off consumers is nothing to brag about. Lieing to your husband about not wanting attention and then praising him when he does so just to play a game is also sad.

Never told us what he owns though.. a cow maybe?
I now own you bitch.

Translated into real english that would mean she wanted him to get something or else he'd be in the dog house for weeks.

Don't let the party-poopers rain on your parade, Geekbabe. I always get a good laugh out of these kinds of threads. Someone comes on here to share a little moment of happinesss in their day and a few people have nothing better to do than to take the time to post and tell you why you should not be happy; and in fact, why it is unacceptable in their sanctimonious view for you to be happy.

Just enjoy the lovely perfume of the roses that fill your home, taste the sweetness of the chocolates, share the lovely dinner that your thoughtful husband is making for you, and then come back later and giggle at some of the ridiculous responses you'll receive in this thread. Happy Valentine's Day!

Congratulations. With the recent banning of DVK, you are now the official jackass of AT, here quoted for posterity. Hopefully you can live up to the task during his absense. Although, I have a feeling you'll do well ;)

I surprised my wife yet again this year by doing nothing for valentine's day.

Well, okay, maybe it wasn't such a surprise.

 to your husband. My fiance surprised me today too. I told him not to waste him money on me some flowers since we are trying to save our money (we are closing on our 1st house March 1st.) and he did anyway. I  him so much!

Nothing wrong with what Mr. Dawn did.

These are my views on how this "don't get me anything" statement. Now I don't know if this is what all men think, but it's atleast how I view it. If you do, then they will love you for doing it, yet they wouldn't be 100% surprised on most occasions. If you don't, then the guy is like walking on pins and needles, going around thinking, if I don't then is she going to hold this against me in any way. So it's in the best interest to just go ahead and do it.

Also if she works with other ladies that are getting flowers, and she's the only one not getting any, I don't want to think about that situation, even if she says "don't get me anything".

He didn't do anything different then several million other husbands did on Feb 14th for Valentines day. Now, if he would of done that just for fun and it wasn't Valentines day, that's special.

My husband brings me flowers quite frequently for no other reason than he knows I love them,he does the same with chocolate and even occasional trips to the bakery.
