Lol,the man just rolled in here with 2 dozen flowers, chocolates and the nicest card for me!

We're in the middle of a north eastern storm here in Boston! :Q

AAAAAAAAWWWW!!!! WHY CAN'T OTHER MEN GET THAT WOMEN LIKE TO BE SURPRISED?!??!!

That is so wonderful! Good for you at having a husband that goes out of his way!

Getting flowers, chocolates and a card on Valentines day is a surprise, now? Yeah, just like it was a surprise getting a cake on my last birthday.

No... she said she told him not to get her anything... then he surprises her with it... thats what i mean. and i think its better for a person to be surprised of a gift than to expect it.

Most men aren't stupid enough to fall into that trap and get the gift anyway.

Actually I know one guy that

It isn't a trap. It is a lie on the woman's behalf.

So, you spend most of your time on ATOT knocking on religion and women? It must be tough to be you....

I've noticed that iamwiz has been online much of the day... are you dropping hints? Completely capitalized hints? :p It's *NOT* a surprise when they come on Valentine's day. 360 other days of the year, they're a surprise. (They're also not a surprise on anniversaries, birthdays, etc.)

I already purchased a gift for the year, I am now exempt for her birthday, our anniversary, and Christmas! :p

we got over a foot of snow last night and it's been snowing heavily all day today, and I spent 30 minutes digging my car out of the snow, drove to the store to get stuff so I could make dinner, bought some craft supplies to make her a card and got her some silly things from the dollar store. Hopefully I get a reaction like your's :)

I'm out in the northwest boston burbs
had a snowday today and surprised my girlfriend by making the trip to her house with a dozen tulips, box of chocolates, and a card.
The 20 minute trip took me almost and hour, the plows still hadn't made a dent in the snow on the roads.
93 was covered with at least three to four inches with cars making their own lanes, left lane was going 25. Mos of the back roads hadnt been plowed since early morning so it was pretty much 4x4 traffic only. And visibility was 5 car lengths at best.
If i didnt have a 4x4 truck theres no way i would have made it, but showing up at the door in the middle of the year's worst storm with gifts... worth it.
She was so surprised.

The ride home wasnt nearly as bad, but 93 was still covered in 2 inches of slush that was flung onto everybody's windshields. And the road was being pelted with freezing rain. But by the time i got back to my town the rain was snow again. With temperatures dropping tonight and more snow on the way its gonna be a fun commute :)

That's not a surprise. When she said she didn't want a gift, they both knew full well she was saying, "You'd damn well better get me something or else there'll be no sumthin' sumthin' tonight."
:)

Maybe my limited experience with women is reason enough for me to be confused, but when a woman says not to get her anything, doesn't the husband always do the exact opposite?

"Don't get me aynthing" in woman-talk is a trap.
Admiral Ackbar knew this to be true. You should beware too.

Somewhere, there is an entire book, equal in size to the Oxford Dictionary, filled with various euphemisms like this.
"He uploads my files like you wouldn't believe."
"He's got great bandwidth."
etc etc etc etc

why is a pic with jeff7.com so funny?

Is this good because he is stereotypical and fell for a ridiculous capitalist holiday?

no you idiot,it's good because he went out of his way to make my day brighter after being told not to feel pressure over this holiday!

Some of you guys are so bad..

You thump women for not expressing gratitude and appreciation for men but when one does so then you're all over it to bash.

lol don't let the bashers get to you...my gf told me not to do anything but I have a huge bouquet of flower being delivered to her work, i'm looking forward to seeing how surprised she gets

how on earth is that relevant? i dont see where she made it seem like "its always about her" as you so elegantly put it.

I am happily married to a young beautiful woman and we are expecting. She is christian and we get along perfectly. Haven't been happier.. thanks for asking.

Btw, how does pointing out a blatant lie "knocking women"?

He just played into what he considered to be your lie. He played a game... games are for losers.

I thump women for not expressing gratitude and appreciation for men? Link?

Being a typical and average person who has fallen for a holiday that was made to make money off consumers is nothing to brag about. Lieing to your husband about not wanting attention and then praising him when he does so just to play a game is also sad.

Never told us what he owns though.. a cow maybe?

oh right, i forgot you're the one married to the person whom you apparently have no respect for (her beliefs).

It's you trying to bring someone down, being negative, and a general douchebag all around that I'm referring too. I agree that V-day is pretty silly (It means more in the long run to do things of this nature on any other day), but calling it out like that is pretty obnoxious. I don't understand why you have to sh1t on the OP's joy and attempt a thread hijacking.

EDIT: grats on the baby, btw. Out of curiosity, have you discussed with the lady about the child being raised Christian or atheist? I see trouble.... ;)
