Why can't women understand that we don't/can't think of romantic surprises

Add all of what you said, but for the wife, the card I customed designed myself, the flowers were custom arranged by me, the chocolate was Joseph Schmidt (some of the finest). The champagne was Dom Perignon.

Nice. Mike's a good guy. I don't care what he says about me. ;) Some day I'll find someone that cares as much for me as he does you. :)

He didn't do anything different then several million other husbands did on Feb 14th for Valentines day. Now, if he would of done that just for fun and it wasn't Valentines day, that's special.

My husband brings me flowers quite frequently for no other reason than he knows I love them,he does the same with chocolate and even occasional trips to the bakery.

So why does this particular event merit its own thread? It seems to me that if your husband does this quite often, then doing it on a day created by corporations for their own profit seems almost backwards, or at least without that little extra bit of "aww you shouldn't have/this is so unexpected" that makes the other flowers/food that much better. Add to that your desire not to receive any gifts... (perhaps to recreate the "awww you shouldn't have" factor"?) and this thread, to me, seems foolhardy.

Still, who doesn't love gifts, corporate motivated or not?

I respect other people's beliefs.. doesn't mean that I have to agree with them. This is something most people here don't understand.. you aren't intolerant unless you ACT in judgment. Thoughts can't harm people. Her family is super religious and we get along fine.

The child will be brought up without religion. Meaning that we will not give them any religious ceremonies etc.. however our sets of parents will expose them to their religions(jewish/christian). My wife grew up being forced to go to catholic school and to church every weekend. The child will be free to choose whatever they want to believe in, if anything. We do not feel we should indoctrinate/force our religions(or lack thereof in my case) on a child.

She's a carnal Christian and is not following Christian doctrine. Thats the only reason its working.... for now

2 Corinthians 6:14-18:
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Fact is Christianity is hardly as passive as people wish it to be. If she stays in her watered down neutral Christianity, all will remain fine, otherwise theres trouble ahead.

EDIT: Fixed and also congrats Geekbabe

Expressing appreciation for loving gestures is never "foolhardy"
