What does he own? You?

Is this good because he is stereotypical and fell for a ridiculous capitalist holiday?

no you idiot,it's good because he went out of his way to make my day brighter after being told not to feel pressure over this holiday!

Some of you guys are so bad..

You thump women for not expressing gratitude and appreciation for men but when one does so then you're all over it to bash.

I cannot stand all the bashing when someone posts something good that happened to them... other people have to come and post something negative just because... You can never win here.
So basically... men should never get women flowers, chocolates, gifts for VDay because its a Hallmark holiday when actually it is NOT.
Also, any man that buys his wife/GF/FI a diamond is bad... i could go on and on and on.

I'm sorry to say this, but

I wholeheartedly agree with those two statements.

We're in the middle of a north eastern storm here in Boston! :Q

AAAAAAAAWWWW!!!! WHY CAN'T OTHER MEN GET THAT WOMEN LIKE TO BE SURPRISED?!??!!

That is so wonderful! Good for you at having a husband that goes out of his way!

Ummm, it's Valentines day and despite the fact that it's such a commercialized holiday, you should be expecting something. How is that surprising in the least? It wasn't very creative either.

again, read the whole thread... she was not expecting ANYTHING. It was a surprise that her hubby went out of his way and got this for her because HE wanted to.

Hey that's cool!! Ignore the bashers and enjoy yourself.

Me I kinda suck on the V-Day stuff this year just a DVD (Sleepless in Seattle) and a box of candy. She wanted nothing really but I got that anyway.

The reason for that is because I am combining V-Day, our anniversary, and her B-Day all in one (they are all within a short time frame of each other). Dropping about 2K on a anniversary ring (what she asked for) and day at the Spa (no kids -- she babysits 5 kids, 5 days a week 2 are ours), and dinner out. So I'll be making up for it.

V-Day in my mind was much more important when we were dating. Once married it's all about your anniversary!

Have a good evening celebrating V-day ;)

you are wasting your time. just let them be narrowminded and judgemental because at the end of the day you dont have to look in the mirror and see them...they have to deal with being idiots for the rest of their lives.

Lesson to be learned Pugsly, it doesn't take a lot to make your wife happy if there's love behind what you do.

I applaud you for knowing that simple idea. :)

Is that the cat's real name? If so, that's flippin' sweet (even though I can't stand cats).

No the cats name is Mobutu. I like to give my pets humilating names to let them know their place.

Surprise. :D

(I never get tired of that particular comic.)

No... she said she told him not to get her anything... then he surprises her with it... thats what i mean. and i think its better for a person to be surprised of a gift than to expect it.
That's not a surprise. When she said she didn't want a gift, they both knew full well she was saying, "You'd damn well better get me something or else there'll be no sumthin' sumthin' tonight."
:)

Maybe my limited experience with women is reason enough for me to be confused, but when a woman says not to get her anything, doesn't the husband always do the exact opposite?

"Don't get me aynthing" in woman-talk is a trap.
Admiral Ackbar knew this to be true. You should beware too.

Somewhere, there is an entire book, equal in size to the Oxford Dictionary, filled with various euphemisms like this.
"He uploads my files like you wouldn't believe."
"He's got great bandwidth."
etc etc etc etc

I can't take credit for the modifications there. I just found it online. (And then cleaned up the awful JPEG noise and resaved it to a nice efficient PNG file.)

There were some valentines treats available to everyone at work today. One of the treats was a cupcake with a plastic heart shaped ring stuck onto the top of the frosting. I pulled it off and washed it off. It's made to fit a childs hand, but my wife has small fingers. I'm going to suprise her with it by telling her to close her eyes and then slipping it on her finger. (I'm not joking)

If that doesn't satisfy her I'll just pull out the boring old roses and red box of chocolate I already bought.
