my wood working skills are 0. the people at home depot cut the wood for me.
the previous owner told me he used door stops for his and i saw the pics and it looked nice. you probably won't be able to see them since the speakers are black and the stand will be black, and the door stops will be black as well.
How about nailing a 1x2 or a 2x2 to the bottom front edge of the box? Would angle it up .75 or 1.5 inches. Then you could cover with the fabric.
well finished up building both stands. one of them has a lot more filling in necessary than the other. i guess that is what happens when you hvae to cut all pieces by hand
anyways, going to fill them in tomorrow and sand em down to prepare them for the duratex coating.
here are a few shots.

im laughing pretty good about you cutting them to size with a hand saw
I don't remember seeing this, but is there a picture in your mind of how you want the final product (the room) to look? Would be neat to see which way you are going with this.
it's pretty much finished other than the speaker stands and my surrounds, as far as the ht stuff. well and that i need to get my ipad to use as the controller heh.
eventually we wanna put a bar to the left of the screen and a pool table back behind the seats. i also wanna make some accoustical panels to hang on the walls as well. there is a thread over on avs about people making ones that look like movie posters. i plan to go that route when i get to that.
You borrowed his router but not his circular saw?!?! Ohman...been sanding the stands and used my buddies router tonight. duratex comes tomorrow so i can start painting. hope to have them done by the weekend.
first time using a router i think i did okay. i left like 3 areas with extra nicks in the wood that i am not going to bother patching up because im tired of sanding lol. i will just put that side facing the wall.

if you are getting lines use less pressure, or a larger roller (full size) also did you watch the vid? that should help a bit with getting it smooth. you can lightly sand it between coats as well
