They made her signed up for a 3 years membership before letting her go.

How legal is that?

She promptly cancelled her cc and the membership afterward.

Their fault for not catching it sooner.

Edit: You CANNOT force someone into signing a binding contract.

What do you mean they made her sign up up? You can't make someone do anything they don't want to do. I would have said f-you and walked out. If the called the cops I still would have said f-you to ballys and walked out.

I can see it now,

"You have to sign up for a 3 year membership or were calling the cops."

They could probably charge her with trespassing or some other misdemeanor. I wonder if they threatened her with that if she didn't sign up for the membership?

Its not like your friend signed a contract saying they wouldn't use somoene else membership, they might could do something to the actual cardholder for letting someone else use their card.

How did she get someone elses membership card in the first place? Did she find the card, steal the card or did the other person let her borrow it?

So your friend got caught stealing and somehow she is angry about having to go through crap after she got caught?

Bally's had no right to do that, they should have just called the cops, but still her fault for breaking the law.

Even if your friend borrowed from another friend, that makes them both culpable.

they probably threatened to keep or cancel the borrowed membership. bally's says we'll give it back if you sign up; friend gets nervous, doesn't want other person getting into trouble, signs 3 year deal

I'd tell them to go to hell and walk out...

Your friends fault for not having any balls... (well, it's not REALLY her fault... but you know what I mean)

Then the original membership may be in jeopardy as well.

I doubt they "made her" sign up. They may have given her the option to sign up or face legal action, in which case she chose to sign up. That probably makes the contract invalid, but in order to contest it she has to admit to theft of services. Sounds like your friend should think things through before doing something so retarded again.

FYI: Bally's is the most crooked organization on the planet. I don't know how they are in business anymore. They have the most high pressure salesmen, and any attempts of cancellation are futile. Really, the only way i cancelled out of mine was forging some documents.

ANd even then i had to spent hours on the phone with them to get my money back for 3 months they charged me for.

I can't say it enough. DO NOT STEP INSIDE A BALLY'S IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GYM. YOU WILL BE SORRY!
