Wow! Nice..

I'll do it... sometime. Just don't have the computer driven motivation anymore.

I'm still using my K6-3/400 @ 450 @ 2.5v

It's been running strong for the last 3 years, lol.

Did you leave Windows on the machine at all? I'd be kind of apprehensive about wiping an install of something I know how to use and going to something I've never used before.

My Linux Desktop

Unfortunately, I'll have to remove it since I need the space for some video editing.
Does anybody know how to correctly remove it, and restore the original XP boot loader? It's installed in a separate HD, that has to be removed from the system, and I'm not certain if LILO was installed in the master (XP) or the slave (Linux) HDs.

Delete the linux partitions and do fdisk /mbr from a dos/win9x bootdisk.

That's what I did when I had a Win98 install, but I'm afraid of doing this now with XP and having the dreaded NTLDR not found message.

I don't apply for any of the Hot Deals due to geographical constrictions ... :(

I did it two or three days ago, worked fine (win2k bootloader is the same as XPs)

I have two HDDs. This one is a 30Gig with WinXP installed already - but I'm going to format and reinstall so it's linux-only anyway. The other HDD is an 80Gig w/ WinXP that I'm going to leave alone.

And I have experience with Linux. I took a Unix class in college, but that was command-line only. Now I get to play with the GUI.

that looks everybit as graphical (re bloated) as a microsoft OS. is it faster/more stable than xp? if so, i might just give it a shot :)

Let's say that XP seems to be as stable as linux :)

I've got Mandrake 9.0 and XP Pro dual boot, with VMWare inside of windows currently running redhat 8.0 as well. I think I may ditch mandrake for rh8.0 on the main install, and then try an ftp install of suse 8.1 on my VMWare machine. I don't wanna buy it again, and haven't done the ftp install because it'd take too long. I might add a second VM install and try slackware out... Dunno though :)

One thing I really like about redhat is the "windows update" part. I got myself a new athlon compiled kernel for it just now :) (kinda sucks cause it's all in emulation via VMWare but it was fun to try out).

Oh, and you can also set whatever level of graphical goodness you want. Right from a blank screen that you right click on to bring up a command line, to something like this.
