My adventure with Newegg.com and Visiontek video card....

you should blame visiontek in this incident,
they made a bad card out of hundred or thousand, you're the unlucky guy getting that one,
and you're unluckily getting that one from an online vendor with typical computer vendor return policy.
as I said before, the best solution is to contact visiontek, see if they'd take it back at their cost.
 
VisionTek makes some nice cards. It's refreshing to see some American Made products in this industry. Very, very few.

You really can't "blame" anyone here. Sh!t happens.

NewEgg is my favorite vendor, aside from a local distributor 😀 They've got great prices, a large inventory, speedy, reliable shipping, and decent customer service. They routinely stock the latest products. Not always the cheapest, but I gladly spend the few extra bucks for peace of mind. I know what I'm getting, and if I have to return it, I can easily and without the hassles of other vendors.
 
I have had a positive experience with my recent purchases over the internet either. It's really hard to find a company that won't impose a 15% restocking fee even when you aren't at fault. It seems that most retailers these days care less about customer service and more about profit. Maybe this is just a shortcoming of computer component resellers, but I've worked for a couple major retailers and with the upper management of both internet and mail order services (Hammacher Schlemmer, Lands End, GAP, Frontgate). Each of those companies is 100% customer service oriented, whereas the internet companies that I've used lack in that area (Newegg, Buy.com, EdgeMicro, Crutchfield). In my experience, the customer oriented companies do not charge a restocking fee, pay all shipping whether the customer is at fault or not, and will cross ship items the majority of the time. I'm not sure if the difference is with the clientel or just the computer reselling industry. Personally, in the future I will avoid online companies that require vast research into their return processes and policies. I really can't fault the companies that I've had problems with since they do state their policies, but I can fault their lack of customer satisfaction.
 
Ok, someone said that if you get something from bestbuy and take something back you don't owe them anything.

Well, you had to pay for gas to get there? Didn't you? I'm sure if you wanted to drive to newegg you could.

Ask bestbuy to pay for shipping charges to ship something to their store, they won't.

And if Newegg paid for shipping on all of that, it would be reflected in your prices and you'd be paying for it anyways then.

I'd rather take the risk of getting a defective product and paying the 10 dollars or so to send it back then take a 1% increase in price on everything forever... Especially when I have never got anything bad from them.
 


That's because driving to Best Buy costs someone all of about $.50


Some internet sites charge a heck of a lot for shipping.



No one asks a store to pay for gas, because the costs are miniscule.




If it cost everyone $10-15 gas everytime they had to return something to a store by car, they'd probably start having a fit about it too, like that guy who started this post.




And ..by the way, if I had to drive all way to California ( where Newegg is located) from where I live in Florida, you bet your #$#@🙂 I'd ask them to pay for my gas! (my hotel rooms and meals too🙂!
