You must be spoiled by returning a hard drive or something... were you send yours, and they send theirs.... But your in a fantasy world if you think that is standard...


 
Do yourself a favor, buy prebuilt computers from Dell and never add components yourself. You aren't competent or mature enough to handle the real business world and you need your hand held. Or you could buy all your stuff at the local CompUSA, then you won't save 25% against the MSRP and take the risk of having to return something.

Why don't you look at it from newegg's point of view, Huh? What if you broke the heatsink off yourself? I'm not saying you did, but some people do these kinds of things.

Is newegg going to pay for shipping back and then SHIP a new card to you? The only logical way to do this is to have the buyer ship it to you and they ship it back. It makes so much sence.

If you want to go to a store and pay tons of more money, that is great, do that. But i do not see why you are complaining.

Newegg is fair, and I do not work for them. I am a college student living in Iowa.

I had a Plextor CD Burner break on me and the service I got from newegg was awesome!

Geesh! And NEVER EVER, in my book, pay for overnight shipping on an item. That is just asking for problems. Most of the time they can't even get it out the same day (no matter what company). If you need something THAT FAST, just go to the store and buy it.

You just expect too much from people. Newegg barely makes any money on anything they sell anyways.
 
oh yes, buying online or by mail order, only use the cheapest and slowest shipping option.
many vendors state that they need x days to process the order, so overnight means x+1 days.
some vendors state that you need to order before yy:yy for them to ship out on the same day.
if you're close to the vendors or their warehouse, you may get it in 1-2 days even choosing ups ground.

since you bought the retail visiontek card, try to do rma with visiontek directly.
some manufacturers pay the shipping even on warranty service.
 
I agree with most when I say this is extremely rare with newegg...I have bought plenty form them and have always had great experience with them...


I bought my radeon le from them and many might remember the fiasco that arose when it was learned that the oem version had the hyper z disabled on the card (which could be reversed with hack) and set to 148/148 clock speeds and possible substandard memory compared to ati retail cards...

This was a few weeks after I had purchased card and when it was found out newegg dropped price like 15-20 bucks...I called them and they said they would accept a return and refund of money. I said I would accept card if they refunded me the difference of price to when I bought it. They agreed...problem solved.
 
If you have a nice pleasent attitude on the phone, the other person is usually nice and plesent back, unless they just had a bad call before you.

If you are mean on the phone, they are going to be mean right back.

I have found that being nice on the phone normally gets me farther, and only as a last result, I get angry and let them know about it! (uggggh, creative labs!)

I have no idea how your attidude was on the phone... but it may have something to do with things also.
 
Those BS heatsinks don't even work anyways. especially with some half-@assed frag tape barely holding them over the chips.
Unless you epoxy on some thermaltake copper ramsinks or something, you'd probably do better without the stock ramsinks.

Its really simple if you want to do business with them fine do it. If I don't want to do business with them that is my choice. THat's what makes America great we all have a choice. Well except when it comes to Microsoft but thats another story. 😛

Sorry had to comment on this for it is just to funny. I did go to CompUsa and got a PNY TI200 for less then I paid from Newegg.com for the Visiontek. 😛
 


<< Why the hell would they tell you to use locktite? Its a thread locking substance not a glue. You can use epoxy glue for this, there is a Devcon epoxy that comes in a clear "dual" tube, the kind with the plunger on it. The glue is cream colored (not the clear ones) and smells very raunchy. It takes a few hours to set, but is VERY strong and resistant to heat. I have used it to attach heatsinks with very good results. You should be able to find it at a hardware or home improvement store. Remember, its cream colored, not clear. >>


Actually there are about five or six different types of LockTite and I have a feeling he got the wrong type. There is the kind that works like glue and there is the kind that just gives a better seal on threads. You can tell because of the different colors of the package that the LockTite comes in, and it also tells you the uses. I think red is for threds and such. I'm not sure which one works as a glue, not that it matters at this point.

Had it been any other online company, you would be saying that they were at fault.. This isn't about NewEgg, this is about you and only you..

My 2 cents:

I feel for you because I am sure something like this has happened to all of us at one time or another but unfortunately stuff does happen. NewEgg is not to blame here for anything but following the policy that is clearly stated online. I have purchased thousands of dollars of stuff from them and have never had an issue with the company or any of its represenatives. I am sorry you feel the way you do toward them but it really is your loss. You really shouldn't let one instance which isn't even their fault convince you not to ever use them again but hey do what you want its a free country. They have some of the best prices online many of which you will never find in stores and the only one you hurt here is yourself since you will miss out on some great prices and tremendous realiability. Obviously NewEgg has a strong following here in Anandtech especially in the Hot Deals forum where they are mentioned in pratically every thread.

I don't have time to read all the replies, but if you haven't contacted your credit card company I would definitely tell them what happened.

That is correct I stay away from online stores for just the reason that happened to me and wouldn't it figure I get a bad product the first time. I have lived in Southern CA most of my life and have had no need to shop online. As for building computers started out in 1994 for a small company building custom computers for the likes of USC, UCLA, and Rocketdyne and many other smaller companies but those were the big contracts. We were one of 7 distributors of Micronics motherboards at that time which was a very popular motherboard back then. So next time you want to replay on a thread I started and post without any knowledge of who I am please don't.
 
I thought buying from online stores was taking risk. Even buying something from the store is taking a risk.

I mean come on if this happened not on the internet, if newegg has a store you went in took the box with the visiontek geforce 3 or ask someone to get it for you, do you get to open it? NO. So therefore you say its the right one go pay go home open it and what do you see? A heatsink that came off? So you WASTE gas money again go back there to get a new one.

I thought it was YOUR fault for buying from newegg. Just case something happens every now and then doesnt mean they are a bad company and business. lightin up bro
 
Well, i have to agree with the guy.

Although I've ordered from Newegg, and things went fine, I have to admit I'd be pretty darn ticked if I ordered a product from a company and when I got it, it wasn't working.

Then I find that on top of the hassle of having to send it back, they make ME pay for the shipping.


I think companies should bear the responsibility for selling a broken or malfunctioning product.


Just because they're online, they shouldn't go by different rules.


If I buy something from Best Buy, and it doesn't work , I don't expect them to charge me a "restocking" fee and bear the cost of shipping back to the manufacturer.

Just the same , I don't think a person should have to pay for "shipping", like him, after it was the company who sent him a bad product.

Whether it was in Neweggs "tiny" fine print or not, they should bear some more responsibility for shipping him a bad product.

They sent him a broken product,...................then they should pay to send him one that actually works.



I know I'd be pretty ticked too if I was him.

I agree 100% it was my fault for buying from Newegg. Let me say this one more time I NEVER said Newegg was a bad company or NEVER bashed them or called them names. All I said was they will not get my business again for my first experence was a bad one.
 
I understand Zoso's position. Improper service/warranty handling turned me for life from Sprint, Bridgestone and some smaller companies in the past. I've ordered tons of stuff from Internet and so far I'm lucky having all issues resolved to my satisfacion (at least in computer hardware area). I had myself trouble-free relationship with newegg, but since now I'm going to add few $$ to my estimates of purchases from them to cover eventual postal expenses. I believe that even with that "virtual surcharge" they still offer the best deals for a lot of stuff.

you just made a huge deal out of nothing, all you had to do was pay the shipping back, and the would refund you...

oh yeah, you had to stiff the 10$ or whatever for the locktite...:Q


Just be happy with your PNY and never buy from newegg again, i don't think they would miss you....:disgust:

Agreed.. He thought he was right in complaining about the whole matter -- he didn't get the kind of response he expected from most of us (the sensible realistic type) and now he's mad he ever posted about it to the point where he is trying to save face by making even more outrageous claims (lies).. It seems, from his posts afterwards, that he's going to be thick-headed and stubborn about the whole experience and won't learn a thing from it (shows a lack of maturity).. There's no other way to sum it up..
