The batteries don't weigh anything. This isn't the MX700. The MX1000 doesn't use AA batterieis. It uses a small and light lithium ion battery that's built into the mouse, so you can't even change it.

The battery life is about 5fold of the MX700 and it weighs about a third as much. Not to mention it's a lot more ergonomic than the MX518/MX700 design.

MX1000. Once you get used to the weight and the ergonomics, it is incredible. By the way, I can't feel any wireless lag for those that are worried.

i borrowed an mx1000 at work. i got addicted and decided to buy one for myself when the $20 rebate came out. it's great. i'm a lefty and i even use it with my left hand although it's ergonomically made for a righty. still, i'm very happy that i have it. it's one sweet little mousie. 🙂

I love my MX700, had it for around 2 years now. 🙂

I could never take a wired mouse again, had to use a wired MX500 at the last LAN party. Never again. Lousy wires getting in the way.

my mx510 is good, although i wish i had the mxduo with the mx700 🙂 510/700 are still my fav mouses that Logitech has made. Ive used the mx1000, im a fan of it, but meh, dont need it.

no experience with the 518

The MX1000 beckons you!

i havent tried any of the mx5xx mice but i do have an mx1000. i mostly play cs:s. my friend has an mx310 and i can pretty much play with mine and his mouse equally. his mouse is hecka light, the mx1000 is heavy but not much that it would bother me. i've had mine for maybe 5-6 months no problems with it. when i bought the mx518 wasnt out yet but if it was i dont know what i would've chose

Well I tried out an MX1000 at a store. I'd have to say that it doesn't feel too bad, and I love the weight, but it's a bit too big! I like the slightly more compact mice like the Logitech Dual Optical I have right now. Granted, my hands are a bit small, but if it's too big even for me I can't imagine how any of the girls I know would be able to use this huge thing. But anyway it's at Best Buy Canada for $70 CAD AR right now so I might buy one anyway.

the g7 has a swapable pack now. lithium ion is sweet either way..my mx700..doesn't last that long at all if i game🙁

Good thing they went back to the original MX design for the G5 and G7. But when I can get an MX510 for just $30 Canadian, there's not really reason to spend over three times that to get the newest one.
