Muslim Nations

I have no idea how this works, but since most if not all Muslim nations have a "tax" according to the Quran, will that money in the future go to the aid of the Tsunami victims? It's supposed to help Muslims who need help the most, right?

And also Saudi Arabia generates $$ billions of dollars in revenue just because of their religious sites. Don't they have some obligation to give that money to the Muslim nations hit by the Tsunami?

I know some Muslim countries have boxes on the street where people donate money. We are talking Millions of dollars combined if not more.

Muslim countries with the exception of Kuwait are VERY poor nations...i do not expect them to be making very large donations.

Look at these debt to GDP ratios of key muslim nations:
Lebanon 185.10
Egypt 101.80
Saudi Arabia 94.60
Jordan 92.70
Syria 89.00

And you are asking this question to who? The AT P&N population which is generally non-muslim? And yes, Muslim countries are trying to help the victims of this disaster as much as they can. Last I heard was $30M USD from Saudi Arabia.

Also last time i checked we didnt donate on racial or religious terms but need and ability.
i'm sick of people asking the muslim nations to pony up cash when they can afford it least.

Muslim nations cant afford it? The middle east is right behind China as the fast growing economic region in the world. But as for your question, Saudia Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Oman, etc etc etc. The people of these countries may be poor, but their governments/leaders/rulers, are filthly rich.

I believe that Kuwait is donating $100 million - $30 million in funds and $70 million in reconstruction projects from one of their own companies. I guess they could fudge those $70 million 'construction' projects around though. It must be pretty difficult to get an exact value, but even $30 million is pretty great for Kuwait.

Ahhh so the nations with the 78th, 68th, and 113rd largest GDP respectivly.

These seem like idea candidates to lead the aid of one of the world's largest disasters 😛

Gimme a break people.

Those countries are rich. Kuwait alone announced a $10 billion budget surplus. The GDP per capita of these nations is on par or 3/4 or so of Western European nations. I thought you were in love with equating stuff per capita.

I think that Qatar is donating $25 million, UAE $20 million. Even though we don't know how much of these are actually just loans and what not, that's still pretty good.

Kuwait, Qatar, and UAE, have vast reserves of money(for the size of nation they are), not to mention each has economic growth of 7-10%.

Most of that is based on increased oil revenues.
Oil won't be around forever.
