This is awesome Rick, I like the idea a lot!
Did you add a touch of delay or reverb to the sound?

I like the breakdown section the most w/ the harmony, I'm away until next week but I definitely want to keep running with this track. I think if maybe a drummer got into it and added some cool double bass parts to that breakdown section and/or some sort of ride that would sound pretty kickass.

Come on ATOT, get in the game :D

I used Cakewalks VC64 (Kjaerhus Golden Channel) on the final mix to get some room for everything. I also doubled each of my tracks and put a little chorus on the doubled track to thicken the sound a little (I record my tracks mono/ EQ/pan them and send them to a seperate stereo bus for mixing)

I could get a much better mix if all the tracks were seperate (and not looped) so I could EQ them first, the drums and Bass get lost pretty easy, and you lose a lot of the dynamics of your setup's awesome tone.

Drums would make a HUGE difference ;)

I have the garageband file with each track separated, I could mix each track down to mp3 separately or send you the GB file if you'd like.

What would work best is to get JR (or another ATOT drummer of course) and lay down a drum track based on the entire mix (if we like the structure we got)

Then rework each track around the new drum track and place everything in the repository in a folder <all mp3>.

I recall a poster commenting on the mix a while back, so I don't see why we couldn't have interested "sound engineers" take a shot at mixing, just like someone tackling one of the tracks. They would just pull the files from the Depot, mix them and up them back to you...and then we could vote on the mix.

If someone was particularly adept, we could then all burn our original individual WAV files and send them to the ATOT sound engineer for final mixing and then Mastering if we wanted to take it that far???

The Mixed or Mastered versions could be then posted to the OP, where they would be easy to find.....and so on?

Hey - That sounds like something that is right up my alley. If you guys make sure all the files start at EXACTLY the same time, I will do a mix for fun. :D

You can't be more than a short drive from my house here in Forest Grove :), maybe we could work something out. I'd love to check your studio out some time ;)

Here's something new to play with :)

Octave fuzz + tele =

If you PM me with links to the "wav's" I'll get them downloaded. I'm at work untill Wed morning, so I'll just have a little time here and there untill then.

I plan on contacting NL5 this week coming up and take him up on his offer to tour the studio in Vancover, I have every other week off so I can find time.

If I get the tracks together, I'll hand deliver them then. If we don't get a drum track by then, no worries, we'll hang onto everything untill we get someone interested in recording one for us (I'd like to use real instruments myself).

I really think it would come-off better if you could record your parts over, start to finish so we don't have to "loop" them. I'll definately be re-doing my tracks.

I'll have a listen when I get home (octojam), I don't have respectable speakers or headphones for my work PC's :( ....but I do at home :)

This thread makes me cry myself to sleep at night. So much potential and it never really got together (myself included).

Kinda Kim Thayil "Rusty Cage" Grunge sound. I love it! Dude you inspire me, next I'll be getting new gear;)

Thanks

I'll re-record that tune when I can get some free time, hopefully sometime this week

i play bass...add me up

also, i suppose this thread is better than any. i've been planning on buying a recording interface anyways. so what do you all recommends? i need something that can handle bass, guitar, and a mic. i've been looking at some of the roland EDIROL interfaces and they look nice, up to 192khz sampling. Anywho, i'de like to spend around 200 bux. and i need XLR and 1/4" interfaces. ill spend more if it is worth it. thanks

I know that every one of my "tunes" I posted is in DIRE need of a bad-ass Bass line :) I still see plenty of potential, and I think we're just getting warmed up at this point....are we not?

I think mid-week, I'll go back and post the seperate tracks since most of mine have Drums+Bass+Guitars all together. That might make it easier to get some more folks involved.

Suggestions on direction or what-not could be helpful as well? ;)

What the hell, I'm sick right now and had to skip out on jamming the past couple days so I'm itching to play with musicians, even if it isn't real-time.

I'll check out your tracks.

rbV5, I dig the second (or alt) guitar track so I'll work on something for that. I've gotta RMA my mobo though tomorrow so not sure if I'll have to use my family's computer to do it or wait til I get back to Orange County and use my Mac.

You know, I was thinking that a sweet trumpet line to replace the goofy decending guitar Riff on Mr.Peabody would work great, something along the lines of the Synth line on the Offspring's "Hit That", only with a trumpet.

Mmmmm....I don't think I'm going to write a lead the first time around. I've got a few riff ideas after hearing one of those drum tracks.

I can get some killer drum tracks recorded for you guys, but I don't know any drummers who are ATOT members. If you know any, get them in here. Otherwise, maybe you can convince Platypus to let me do it with a non ATOT guy.........

If no AT'er wants to step forward again then I think that would be fine NL5, they've had plenty of notice and it seems like it's going to be holding us back otherwise. As time goes on maybe more will want to participate. Thoughts everyone else?
