Seriously though HVAC is a good business to be in. No matter what happens and no matter how many jobs are automated or outsourced, people will always need climate control and refrigeration and installing and fixing those is kind of hard to outsource or automate. Even when prefab buildings take over, there will most likely be a need for hvac installs to be done manually.

They want someone with loads of experience who can walk right in and start working with no supervision. I have such limited experience with electrical assembly that even a seminar and a one month probationary period would not help me.

Err hvac assembly is like lego... Just make sure you follow the wire colour diagram.

Hey op, do you have a Target near by? I saw our local Target with a sign that they were hiring and minimum pay would be around $15/hour. Check it out.

Seriously, back in 1996 I had this idea for a lawn care service whereby all of the field workers were Pilipinas which I would bring in from the Philippines. I'd pay them what the federal government said I had to pay them (the feds regulated it) and have them all wear bikini tops and short-shorts. The promise was the potential of finding a husband while on the job. :p

Whenever I apply to stores or restaurants I get turned down. They see my resume and figure I won't stay very long, so its a waste of time.
A while back the Taco Bell flat out told me I was overqualified and its unlikely I'd ever get hired for menial jobs.

You need to tailor your resume to the position.

I will not lie.
And it has nothing to do with me being honest. I'm a piece of shit.
It has to do with the law.
In many states you can be fired for lying on your resume AND your employer can sue you for your salary, because you misrepresented yourself to get the job.

If I just leave stuff off then it looks like a huge gap between 1997 and today. The only menial jobs I've had were during high school and a pizza delivery gig for about 6 months in between colleges a short while back. Everything else is electronic and industrial and facilities, and that's why no one wants to hire me.

Soo.... apply for the manager position, then! Now that you're older, it's somehow easier to fake responsibility :)

I always found the "over qualified" thing is ridiculous. It's like you need to fit a very specific level of qualification for a job now days, you can't be under qualified but you can't be TOO qualified either. My favourite is the ones where they require 10 years of experience in something like windows server 2019. Or a new one, where they specify a range. At least 3 years of experience, but not more than 5 in a certain technology. I've seriously seen that. I think they do on purpose for that crap since at the end of the day they just want to outsource the job but they need to show the union that they "tried".

Companies look at someone as being overqualified for 2 reasons: 1) they may want more money than the position pays. 2) they fear that they’ll hire the person and they’ll get bored and leave quickly.

Tinder just needs to make an in-app payment trigger so you can whore yourself out and use the new bill in Congress to protect your sexworking arse.
