I though that I would have been closer to the center but slightly Right-Libertarian. Who knows how the assessment gives weight to the different sections/questions. So it may be a flawed to the point it's useless to truly gauge political alignment.

I took a quick look at that political test, for example the very first question is:

"If economic globalisation[sp] is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations."

Of course everyone wants it to serve humanity rather than "trans-national corporations." But the real question is, how much are you willing to fight against the natural progression of globalization versus accepting what you most likely cannot change and find a way to fit in?

In other words, there is a bias worked into these survey questions causing the narrow calculated range of views amongst those taking the surveys.

That was a particularly awful question, several others were pretty bad and I just stopped taking it.

One question among many does not indicate the bias you claim.

How many of our posters would answer in the affirmative while claiming that corporations should exclusively serve stockholder interests & see no contradiction?

I see no way other than confusing emotionally satisfying jingoism with principle.

Stockholders are why I look down on "public" companies. They generally only exist to be evil. At least a private company can keep their morals... if they have any.

^This. I despise the stock market but more educated people in here (I say this in all seriousness) would know why the stock market is an invaluable tool in our economy. It only makes companies serve their stockholders and not do what might be best for the company, its employees or the consumers.

It doesn't weigh Social Justice factors, or at least not very heavily, and that form of Progressivism is what's most insidious and divisive. Like I said before, I thought I would be quite a bit further Right than that test suggested, which leads me to believe the question weighting, if not the entire test itself, is bullshit.

I didn't care for the survey the questions seemed to force you to pick how they wanted

Kudos to Paul. Instead of bravely sending the man back his money, he donated it to the victims' fund.

Well, he get no kudos from me. He only sent it back weeks or months after "bravely" and gleefully accepting it. Only the harsh glare of publicity led him to strategically change his mind.

And, of course, he "bravely" first called out the obvious racism of a guy who slaughtered blacks in an historic black church, announcing blacks were raping our white women.

Oh, wait, no he didn't. :colbert:

He first tried to blame this racist massacre on people "people straying away (from religion), it’s people not understanding where salvation comes from." Fucking pandering weasel.

He never mentioned THE OBVIOUS murderous racist intent AT ALL. 🙄

Never mind his father, Rand Paul's racist ties run deep:

One problem — but not the biggest — is Paul’s close working relationships with racists. Back in 2009, Paul’s senate campaign spokesperson had a Myspace webpage that included a comment tied to the Martin Luther King holiday that read: “HAPPY N***ER DAY!!!” above a photo of a lynching. While someone else might have posted the comment, it remained on the staffer’s page for nearly two years.

Then in 2013, Jack Hunter, Paul’s social media director — and the co-author of Paul’s 2011 book on the tea party — was uncovered as the “Southern Avenger,” a radio shock jock who regularly donned a mask emblazoned with the Confederate flag and had a long history of making racially inflammatory statements, including praising Abraham Lincoln’s assassin for having his heart “in the right place.”

Under pressure, Paul reluctantly fired both offending parties — but did so while denying any racism on their parts. Back in 2009, he absolved his staffer of having “any racist tendencies,” while last year he protected Hunter for two weeks before finally letting him go and blaming the media.

Thanks for that link! This part really made me lol...

Mr. Paul’s campaign said Monday that it planned to send $2,250 received from Mr. Holt to a victims’ fund set up in the wake of the shooting.

“RandPAC is donating the funds to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund to assist the victims families,” said Sergio Gor, a spokesman for the campaign. Mr. Holt made four separate donations to the Paul campaign last year, records show. The campaign could not confirm the total received but said that all the money it identified from the white supremacist leader would be donated to the fund.
I bet that old racist fucker blew a gasket when he read that his money would be going to help the victims of the crimes inspired by his CCofC hate group.

I would have loved to see that...lol!

Anybody supporting the Clintons has no business complaining about somebody else's campaign contributions.

Yeah, the Pubbies have their closeted racists and the Dems have their wise Latina women making better decisions than white people. Which is totally, totally different.

That was my favorite part as well. Send back his donation and the guy's out nothing. Donate to another cause - especially one diametrically opposed to his cause - and the guy has lost his influence and his money, and in a way guaranteed to rub salt in the wounds.

My thought as well.

What should be obvious is a mainstream religious person believes the devout shouldn't be violent, shouldn't be harming people. Ergo any violence is a lack of religion that they view as demanding pacifism.

Either you don't understand that view, which is quite astonishing... or you oppose peaceful faith.

Yeah violence in the name of religion is unheard of.

lol Like taking down a flag will fix racism.

You are the man.

Actually removing the OVERT state sanction of a racist symbol is a very important step. Symbols do MATTER. Marginalization of entire races through symbols is an important ingredient in the recipe of oppression. History is replete with examples of this.

Shit like this is why I support the death penalty. He needs to be hanged in public. Let others see what happens when you try shit like this.

I'm very mildly libertarian left. Geez, who knew?

I'm wondering what the folks who run that test do with the data collected from it.

On topic, the first time I saw the shooter's picture, I kind'a felt conflicted in a sense seeing as if we have this guy who allegedly murdered nine people sporting a classic Moe Howard doo.

I was away for several days and didn't really see this stuff on the news, just bits here and there on the radio.

looking at photos of this pond scum now, he looks like what I always imagined spidey to look like.

say, how is spidey doing in his race-war prep? Anyone know?

also, Baasha. lol. what a fucknuckle.

the infraction was worth it! 🙂
