Heh. Amazing. You're both right on top of Dennis Kucinich & Cynthia McKinney.

But you don't talk like them.

Maybe you can explain that.

I have commented on maybe 20% of what was covered in this assessment in the forum, you have maybe seen 50% of my comments. This being said you have no clue what my stances are in most of the assessment.

Take the test & get back to us, OK?

We don't get to make up our own definitions, although I suspect that you have.

Me? Solidly Left-Libertarian by their definition & my own.

Wow I had no clue what I was. Thanks for the link.

I'm officially a left libertarian. Right about where Gandhi was.

Wow, all this time I always considered myself a moderate conservative. Based on my beliefs I'm a left-libertarian.

Your Political Compass

Economic Left/Right: -2.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.15

I'm a little lower and to the left of you, but otherwise exactly the same.

I think it has something to do with the nature of the questions...some have clearly obvious modern answers. I would say I'm definitely a slightly left leaning libertarian though 🙂

I think it's like one of those online IQ tests where everyone who takes it scores 140.

Or it may be in a clinical setting when the calm mind is in charge you'll get different answers. Like, actually more rational ones, as opposed to the ones that come to the surface when usual political media noise is whipping people into an emotional frenzy. It shows up in other surveys where people will self identify one way and vote that way but if you go issue by issue their self identification is clearly erroneous. So maybe some people just need to take more deep breaths and turn off the sources of emotionally manipulative BS.

Or it could just be that most of the people taking the test have similar mentalities. We're on a US-centric political sub-forum of a tech forum. Just to know this place exists, let alone be interested in posting here requires someone to be of a rather specific demographic. Sure there are outliers, but I'm not too shocked that lot of people here think more-or-less the same politically. I'm in the same boat as virtually everyone else who took the test here.

The scrambling by some to avoid cognitive dissonance is interesting, to say the least. Posters who obviously disagree vehemently with McKinney & Kucinich somehow manage to score right on top of those two, & the posters in question can't seem to see that it really doesn't match up well at all. Glaring contradiction is glossed over.

Maybe it's as Mizzou suggests, that some posters just regurgitate the emotionally satisfying talking points du jour w/o comparing them to what they really believe at all. Maybe they're being manipulated at an emotional level with techniques that get past their cognitive defenses. Or maybe they're giving answers to the test that are what they think they're supposed to believe rather than what they actually do believe. Maybe a little of both.

People who believe that racism is taught should read the book "Nurtureshock".
The lemon import and accidents graph shows the opposite of how the poster interpreted it.
Roof looks like the avatar of banned troll Oblama2009.

Who and where did you see their results of this exact test? Or perhaps you're applying your own definitions to the political terms used by the test?

Honestly it sounds like you're just trying to pump yourself up. "Everyone else is denying their cognitive dissonance, and I'm the only one smart enough to see it!"

I'd say this is rather accurate of myself.

I always get a kick out of that political test.

Here is mine. The last time I took this. About 2 years ago. I was more to the right and less libertarian.

Where? Here-

I didn't say everyone. The difference between self image and projected image can be profound, indicating a lack of awareness one way or the other.

I suspect my stance on gays/same sex marriage, abortions, government involvement in the bedroom/private lives helped push me towards the libertarian side. As I said, I've only commented on a small portion of what covered in that assessment in the forum so anyone claiming to know my stance is full of shit.

I took a quick look at that political test, for example the very first question is:

"If economic globalisation[sp] is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations."

Of course everyone wants it to serve humanity rather than "trans-national corporations." But the real question is, how much are you willing to fight against the natural progression of globalization versus accepting what you most likely cannot change and find a way to fit in?

In other words, there is a bias worked into these survey questions causing the narrow calculated range of views amongst those taking the surveys.

Bingo. Which is why several posters are coming up left of center when they clearly are not.

I think thats is the case for me too. I guess I'll refer to myself as a "Conservative from the waist up"
