From the other room I could hear someone on the TV saying this is the Egyptian Tea Party. Seems my local channel 2 station had cut into the live Fox News feed. LMAO. Wow, just Wow.

My mom's describing the scenes from our balcony right in front of the palace... a few minutes before the announcement, protesters were throwing roses to the presidential guard tanks stationed around his residence (he's not there of course). The tanks responded by turning the cannons away from them, towards the palace. It's just a symbolic gesture, but it meant a lot.

Remember all the nudnicks on the right who bitched and moaned when Obama early after getting elected reached out to the Muslim world?

Not suggesting it parcipitated this but it put the United States on the right side of history. Seems Obama was ahead of the curve.

Good luck to the people of Egypt. I hope they use this opportunity to create a new constitution and government the right way. The biggest danger they face is the temptation to give in to the radical Muslims and create a non-secular government.

its sick to see theses animals taking over that country. it reminds me of the iraqs when saddam was overthown, they ALSO partied like wild animals in the streets but within a year they were doing terrorism and blaming the us for everything because the idiots who overthrew saddam had no idea how to run a country. trust me, a year from now there will be a taliban like government in that country which will be extremely anti western and which will be a breeding ground and haven for islamic terrorists

It also shows that Bush was right to say that if we get democracy in Iraq it will spread. And now you're seeing just how right Bush was.

There are no animals taking over the country. Only free humans.

You have to remember when we went into Iraq, we bombed the shit out of their infrastructure and disbanded their military and police force. Then we tried to police Iraq with an undersized occupying force. All the while, Bush told us we were going to pay for the war with loans to Iraq which would be paid back through oil sales and we'd be treated as liberators.

I don't often agree with what you post, but, this is spot on. This has nothing to do with Obama's useless guesture, this is Bush's long term view happening. Now it's up to the Egyptians to either make work, or, F it up....lets just hope they make it work...

The Egyptian people are free....of one military dictator only to replace him with another?

Good luck with those elections.....

Good luck keeping the peace....

The theory was correct but execution was flawed. You cannot start wars to force democracy on people. You can only encourage and communicate. Yes we do have to talk to people even ones whom with we may disagree. The people decide, we work with their choice.

I sincerely hope they know what they are getting themselves into... the most common mistake of freedom is they felt they have the right to do whatever they damn please.

So it was Bush who burned that Tunesian guy alive, which started the revolution there and triggered this one too! Guess the US will finally be able to arrest him for murder now then!
Think he'll get the chair?

P.S. This had nothing to do with the US whatsoever. The US administration was quite happy with their pet dictator.

Iraq's execution was flawed, badly yes, but, the end result and long term view is happening. Much to the dismay of the BDS'rs....looks like their Base O' Rage just got toppled, makes their behavior over the Bush years look pretty F'ing bad...

Probably. The folks in that region blame The West when they stub their toe, so I'm sure Bush will be blamed for that too. Course, all the good that comes out, short and of course the long...that won't be mentioned...

Congratulations to the Egyptian people! Now that being said, let just see who replaces Hosni. Will this person start reforms? Or will they order a full scale attack on Israel despite knowing that Israel would fully retaliate right back?

racist much?

If you paid any atttention to this, its worthy of note there are no anti-american rants in the crowd.

This is a real take my country back movement, unlike the faux rhetoric here.

What long term view is that? A lot of us who opposed the Iraq War were saying that if the Iraqis wanted freedom and democracy then would need to revolt and fight for it themselves. Similar to what Egyptians just did.

You know that's the spin you're going to hear from the GOP/Fox, et al, see Bush was right, overlooking what you just said.

anyone that tries to frame this as political spin for Bush or Obama are insulting the Egyptian people and the people that died to serve as catalysts for the Egyptian protests
