Motorola Triumph coming to Virgin Mobile...

What is the price on this one? And the optimus v was hard to find at first, I'm sure it will be the case this time as well.

No word on price yet, but I'd say $200 at the lowest. Also, note that the Optimus debuted at $150 but was later raised to it's current $200 price.

looks good for virgin. lets hope it doesnt have the connectivity problems that optimus v supposedly had. this phone will probably be expensive though. virgin found out pretty quickly that they had underpriced the optimus v initially and they are unlikely to make that mistake again. i think metro has a nice android phone out and they charge more than 300 for it i think so i wouldnt be surprised if this phone was priced similarly

I got my OpV at RadioShack at end of May for $150, and it came with $10 Gift Card. I know they were cheaper before, but I could never find them in stock. $200 is just retarded.

I'm betting it'll be at least $299, or more likely $349. Hell, the big 3 are still selling phones with these specs for $500+ off-contract!

theyre easy to find now. theyre almost unsellable since they raised the price to $200

TBH, I bought one at the $150 price point, and ended up returning it a week or 2 later... dropped calls due to where I live, lots of texting caused the phone to start malfunctioning. However, I'd give them a try with this new phone again, since I am a fan of Motorola hardware. Perhaps it could work out this time. I am predicting a $279-$299 price on this one as well

It's a pretty decent phone, and considering every other Android phone is $599 it's price is great. I used one, for the price it's unbeatable. $200 for a non contract Android phone is unheard of.

I think if they never dropped it to $129 at BB, or $109 after gift card at Target, $199 would be easier to swallow, but it's hard to accept something selling for almost 2x several months later when it comes to technology.

True, but it's not marketed at techie people, Virgin is for people who don't need an uber phone and don't know too much probably. I would gather most who buy this handset are clueless and never knew it was $150. I bought mine like a week after they bumped it to $200 lol. I ended up returning it because the resolution was too low for me. But aside from that the phone felt real solid and I liked the buttons on it.

if it has an unlocked bootloader, it will have a huge dev community following. blur-free is a good step, but making it mod-friendly combined with cheap data plan would be killer

This could be a killer with no bootloader lock, or a huge missed opportunity.

Knowing Moto, they'll miss the opportunity.

Does virgin mobile have retail stores where you can play with actual phones/check out the service? On the website it just lists walgreens and cvs, these would probably just have the prepaid phones in a plastic container on the shelf.

Anyone comment on data speeds? Preferably in the chicago area.

Nope. To the best of my knowledge they cut costs by not bothering with stores. Walmart also sells them. If you are lucky they might actually have a couple on display for you.

What is a cheap phone you all recommend I can buy (even like on eBay) to try out Virgin's coverage before committing to a multi-hundred dollar phone?

I don't know how good these are, but they are the cheap phones...

I'm sure you could also buy the Motorola phone and get a 30 day return policy if you don't have good coverage. That is what I did with the optimus V, found it didn't work for me and returned it to Radio Shack. The big question is what is your native Sprint coverage where you are going to be most of the time. The motorola triumph reception is probably better than your average cheap vm phone.

Edit- sorry if I'm stating the obvious. VM and good phone is kind of an oxymoron.
