First, I want to go on record that anything I receive via mail that is not labeled with who it is from ends up in the trash. If I was a billionaire I doubt I would insist on my help opening plain white envelopes either...or even anything sent bulk with "TIME SENSITIVE MATERIAL"...

I am tired of opening mail each day for new roofs, car warranty, termite/pest control. Apparently for my protection they send these mailings in a plain white envelope so no one can 'identity theft' me. Yet in these plain white envelopes it only discusses a change in rate and my account number is not mentioned inside...nor my name (probably....I never saw it, but I have seen others). However, my statement comes predominately labeled as the company...and all my account info is inside, even checks sometimes...😕

So I asked, why send my statement with my balance and other personal info with your name on it when just a change of terms that lists only a new rate comes plain.

My balance is only $1400...I have higher rate items I am paying more on.

[canned response]Sorry, Mr. Å; we have no idea how our envelopes are designed except it's for bulk mail purposes.[/canned response]

You realize I get my statements via bulk mail from you, right?

[canned response]Sorry, Mr. Å; we have no idea how our envelopes are designed except it's for bulk mail purposes.[/canned response]

Can I talk to someone that knows about the envelopes.

[canned response]Sorry, Mr. Å; no one here knows about our envelope design.[/canned response]

what? no one knows why you send statements out labeled and account changes plain white?

[canned response]Sorry, Mr. Å; we have no idea how our envelopes are designed except it's for bulk mail purposes.[/canned response]

Can I talk to your boss or someone that knows?

[canned response]Sorry, Mr. Å; no one here has why our envelopes are designed except it's for bulk mail purposes.[/canned response]

...get transferred and told about changing economy....etc.

I kept getting told they cannot close my account other than leaving it at 14.99%...I finally get my old rate and a closed account. I got a lot of lip service up to that about how in today's economy having my $xxxxx balance available could be important. I explain if I need $xxxxx I will pull it out without a credit card and how banks have to protect themselves from people that cannot pay (none of which affects me as I have never paid on this card less than double the minimum and nearly a month in advance with sometimes two payments). They are at no risk from me.

cliffs...if you have a barclays/juniper card close it as more than likely you will be fucked if you don't open plain white envelopes. However if you disagree, I was told a simple rate change of 8.99% to 14.99% would be less than $30 a year on a $6000 balance that is far more than mine....I didn't do the math, either way I am paying nearly double a year.

It works out to be 30 a month, not 30 a year...

I realize the math involved..it doesn't work out like they tell it. However, regardless; it's going to nearly double what I pay for doing nothing wrong and even going ahead (yes, I understand it's in the carrier's best interest to normally make money on slow pays, but in today's economy they are facing happy no-pays).

Simple solution. Dont throw away mail. You have no one to blame but yourself that you did not get the notice if you were the one that threw it out. To believe otherwise is idiotic. Read up on personal responsibility.

plus dont charge more than you can afford.

this all could have been avoided if you paid off your balance every month

Nice try shifting the focus away from your irresponsibility to someone else. You messed up and somehow you think we have give a shit when you can't even admit you are in the wrong. Maybe getting screwed is what you needed.

BTW, sometimes companies don't advertise where the mail came from so that people snooping in your mail/trash won't know what to look for. That's why when you receive a card in the mail, it's in a plain envelope.

Actually he mentioned that all mail from that company with his personal information (such as account number) comes in an envelope marked with his name and their name, while this envelope with no such information inside, did not.

Pretty weak rant for not reading your own mail.

If there were more twists I would nominate you for self ownage but not much beef in this thread.

Obviously the credit card company sends out the rate notices in the plain white envelopes on purpose... hoping people won't notice.
I consider it a scam.

I'd be pissed also.

Alky's one of those people that will get flamed no matter what he posts, but he's absolutely right here.

My statements come very clearly marked, but the only card issuer that does anything remotely close to that for account notices and the like is American Express. Everyone else sends new terms of service in the same junk packaging they use for solicitations. I don't close accounts, but also don't use anything except for my Amex Starwood card for purchases, so the changes don't really affect me -- but I'd be very angry if I did. They're really just hoping you don't notice.

CC fees are crazy. I took a cash advance for $100 last month, thinking I'll get charged maybe 15% p.a. per day which should end up to practically nothing and they charged me $1.50 per day - W...T...F. Promptly paid it back from another account.

dude, when you ever get important a bit in life and possibly own a home you will learn you get countless unsolicited mailings in plain white envelopes.

If a company doesn't want me to know who it's from, I am not going to open it. Same way with an unidentified caller on caller ID....

Don't assume to know my situation. The credit card balances I currently have were from going back to college at 30. I send in about $1000-1500 per month towards them, probably more than you'd pay off in a month.

Pretty stupid not to read your own mail buddy. Before you try and deflect, yes I live on my own and yes I get plenty of plain white mail. For the 3 seconds it takes to open an envelope I'll make sure nothing important is inside.

I'd say 95% of my mail is plain unidentifiable envelopes.

Don't be so quick to auto-flame alkemyst, I'd be just as pissed because I throw away all that "TIME SENSITIVE" shit too, it's usually life insurance spam or some other lame spam.

I open all my mail.... even the junk stuff.... takes 2 seconds to open, determine its not important, then trash it.

If you can't be bothered to read your own mail, you have noone to blame but yourself.

Exactly. Especially since his "If a company doesn't want me to know who it's from, I am not going to open it" philosophy is working so well for him.

actually dude it's still working as I got my terms changed back and the account closed.

I am really willing to put money down on it only takes 2 secs to open a piece of junk mail and determine if it's important though.

My mailbox today provided a stack of 10 letters that were total junk, I average probably 5-6 a day. I do my bills every two weeks...so opening 70 fucking junk mails on my own time is not something I really want to venture into.

There is no reason other than FUCKING deception that a card company would send my bills under a labeled envelope yet changes in terms in a plain white one. To me that's one step worse than burying them in all the offers each statement comes with.

I have about $60k split between student loans and CC debt about 50/50. For an adult professional it's not a horrible amount. My current CC's are paid in full each month. I then send another $1k or so to those old college debts. I pay early, more than the minimums, etc.

Don't try to make me out as a deadbeat or lower class person that you are possibly relating too.

So those that love to just enter my threads to flame me should go back to your rooms at your 'rents place or apartments and just get all giddy with it. You win dawg, dawg you win!

wow 95% yet you don't have someone on tab to do this for you?

Can I hire you to lay some sod in my yard?

Well... there's alot of stuff we adults do that we don't really want to do but have to.

Opening mail is one of them.

man up (since you claim to be an adult) and open your fucking mail. then shit like this wont happen to you.

is opening a couple of pieces of mail a day REALLY gonna put a strain on your 'apparently busy life' .... probably not, since you have PLENTY of time to post bullshit threads like these and make 35,000 posts on an internet forum.

i'm guessing your life really isn't as BUSY as you make it out to be.

in fact.. i'm guessing you're sitting here hitting refresh every few seconds to see who replies to your thread.
