I'll trade you. You can pay $50 for a quarter mbit and I'll take the 4mbit for $60. You save $10!

What kind of speed and prices do you have in mind?

cases . . . . on macs they control everything so their cases are specifically tailored to their mobos, all the plugs are in just the right place for an amazingly clean install.

I would like to see Soyo or Asus start selling cases that are specifically built for their mobos. You'd be able to put other mobos in there, but if you used the correct one, everything would be perfect and your install would look as clean as the inside of a G5 when you were finished. I think it's a good idea, and would get some traction among the high-end computer users. They'd probably be too expensive for me, at first, though.

Also with such a case you could have effective quiet air cooling, the case could have just a few fans but in just the right place to keep everything nice and cool, like Mac does.

Otherwise I must be very shortsighted because I can't see anything else that would make my PC experience more enjoyable. Nothing more is necessary, unless you're talking about mentally-controlling everything on it.

Movielink.com is pretty close.

That's true, but the quality of those is quite bad. At least DVD quality movies should be available via subscription.

Instant-On PC's.

You PC should come on in the same amount of time your TV does.

Give me a full featured OS on an EEPROM!

I think keyboards are in need of a dramatic upgrade, but with that cool new one coming out hopefully next year with the screens on every key, it'll satisfy that demand of mine.

Built in power hookups in cases. So you get a PSU, plug in one cable to the case. There are then Molex cables the EXACT LENGTH you need next to hard drive cages, 5.25 bays, 3.5 bays, video card placment etc. with somewhat longer cables for P4 connectors due to the variation of where they are located on the motherboard. Much easier and cleaner routing of cables this way, so the only thing you have to worry about in terms of neat cabling is IDE/Floppy/SATA connectors.

DAMMIT!!! ALL OPERATING SYSTEMS HAVE THIS PROBLEM - EVEN LINUX

Put all the damn personal (media/documents) files in ONE area, put all the system and program files in another area, and allow for easy backups.

The /home directory in linux doesn't count because so many config files are stored all over the damn place in linux.

The 'documents and settings' and 'my documents' directories in Windows also don't count since again, so many config files are stored elsewhere.

All programs should store any personal settings in the personal directories so that a backed-up computer can be stored in minutes instead of hours.

There should be no need to save drive images EVER. If you have the files, a computer should be able to be restored quickly.

We really need to find a way to shrink down computers to one piece of silicon. One device that is your CPU, solid state storage, video accelerator, etc.

No moving parts whatsoever.

No more huge CPU fans.

I would like to see one form of removable storage media that is solid state and holds much more than current DVD-R media.

A GUI that doesn't need a monitor would be nice. Something like a hologram that can be broken off and sub-divided, that way what we're working on won't be limited by the size of the monitor we have.

That's all I can think of for now. :)
