Built in power hookups in cases. So you get a PSU, plug in one cable to the case. There are then Molex cables the EXACT LENGTH you need next to hard drive cages, 5.25 bays, 3.5 bays, video card placment etc. with somewhat longer cables for P4 connectors due to the variation of where they are located on the motherboard. Much easier and cleaner routing of cables this way, so the only thing you have to worry about in terms of neat cabling is IDE/Floppy/SATA connectors.
