I think a good definintion of a "conservative" is someone who espouses Neo-Liberal economic policies, social policies informed by Christianity and tratitional morality and foreign policy guided by Realpolitik as opposed to Idealpolitik. On these measures, I think that Lord Magnus Kain wins.

If you are looking for a blindly loyal Republican, I say Riprorin.

Conjur and Moonbeam are both pretty far on the left, but I haven't been able to parse exactly what they beleive yet.

Well, I guess I just get a different impression. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. He is just who came to mind when I read this thread. I can think of many others in the P&N forum, but the OP was asking about OT members more specifically.

A far right wing canadian is probably about the same as a slightly left swinging moderate in American politics.

I also got the impression he was libertarian. Which is a vastly different system than what in my mind constitutes a conservative.

libertarian believes in reducing the size of government.

conservatives believe in reducing entitlements but increasing military spending.

libertarian thinks everything should be privatized with no governmental intervention. No government funded stuff, which is finacially wicked, wicked right wing. But I don't think they want any controls over personal freedoms in place either, I mean none...so socially they're extremely left wing. That's just my understanding though.

Don't worry, Insane. Conservatives in social policy debates call me a flaming liberal. Liberals in fiscal policy debates call me fascist.

Something good to remember is that just because I disagree with you on a particular issue does NOT make me a member of the opposing party.

That's the libertarian PARTY. There are libertarian ideals that are not that drastic. I do not follow the libertarian party line and believe in a bit more federal involvement than the lib party does.

The best way to describe me is socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

And there is a logic behind my stance. Social liberty can only come with economic liberty. For socialism ALWAYS results in a loss of freedom and rights.

Ayn Rand said it best:

"Intellectual freedom cannot exist without political freedom; political freedom cannot exist without economic freedom; a free mind and a free market are corollaries."

As I said, if I am mistaken in Amused being conservative, I apologize. I am solely going by the recent posts of his I've seen.

Amused, I agree with you. I hate generalizations, and I love to have reasoned debate with people of differing opinions. I was not trying to paint you as a member of a party, I just felt from the posts I've seen of yours recently, you appeared conservative to me. I have always respected you even though we often disagree, and I consider you to be one of the more intelligent members here.

Yeah, tell that to the entire fvcking forum of P&N.

Standard P&N thread:
<Insert some political topic>
"God damn dem/liberals!"
"Fvck you neo-con!"
<insert mildly amusing, but way out there moonbeam post>
"You screw goats"
<lock>

Lather, rinse and repeat. No discussion takes place, just flames.

moonbeam isn't liberal, he's just intelligent.

I think you misspelled "arrogant idiot"

Look up heartsurgeon. :laugh:

heartsurgeon could be replaced with an endless do{} loop that just said "Damn liberals!" and "I hate Air America!" and no one would even notice.
