why the fsck would people buy one of thse things??? Would you buy a car if it randomly stopped starting every 30 days or so??
I bought mine used for $150 just so I could play Burnout Revenge. I regret nothing, it's a fantastic game.Originally posted by: Accipiter22

Because there are a lot of good 360-only games like Dead Rising and Crackdown, plus mult-platform games that play best on the 360.Originally posted by: Accipiter22

There is something to what Passions says. I don't think it is user error but I think environmental elements may be an issue with a lot of these. Then again if people are being supplied with refurbs as their replacements then it is no wonder that they have worse luck with failure rates than those with a new box that has never had an issue.

Me too, and my friend. My other friends got their's a few months afterwards and noone has had a problem yet.
What's your point? The thousands of people who are having the exact same problems with their 360s aren't just making it up.

I got one this past Christmas, and the DVD drive worked intermittantly. Also, the disk would not eject most of the time. The replacement has been working fine for the past 6 months - keeping fingers crossed.

Hmm.. This is actually kind of funny and disturbing: http://www.xbox360forum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2
At this moment, there are 20 non-stickied threads on the front page of their general forum. At least 11 of these threads explicitly have to do with failing units.
By contrast, here: http://www.ps3forums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=14, there are 50 non-stickied threads on the first page. Of these, one has to do with a hardware problem that was fixed, and one has to do with relative build quality between the PS3 and the 360, and the rest have to do with features and whatnot.
This is a shame, because other than hardware quality, it looks like the 360 is the system to get.
So anaecdotally the failure rate is only 25% after 6 months?Originally posted by: Looney
I had my system for about 6 months, and played it EVERY night during that time (about half games, half movies), and didn't have a problem. I've given 3 of them as presents too, and only my brother's system had a problem (which was easily covered under warranty).

You can't go by the number of posts like that. There are many factors to consider for why the xbox forum has more hardware failure threads.
