Mom wants justice for her son killed while robbing a store

What will be next? Guys that want to rape women should be spare from harm, including death by gun shots from the victims? Just let those bastard rape and then call 911 after the facts? Unbelievable.

While I'm not trying to defend her, the mom is at least saying her son should have been in jail. She isn't one of those trying to say her son was the sweet angel who wouldn't hurt a fly.

Um the sign has been photoshoped to completely change its meaning

Jesus I'll edit my post, seemed funny and apt. But you said the woman should sue the website for defamation, no one on the little local news page said anything that wasn't true.

Honestly do you people function out there in the real world like this??

Jesus how can you be so condensing and function in the real word.

We have seem to have some overly sensitive posters round these parts!

Why did you post this? It's one woman's struggle to come to grips with the loss of her son. It's not a national story, there are not any activists calling for the arrest of the shooter. Is her grief not real to you because she's black and her son is a criminal?

Why?

Go back to my post on page 1.

Sorry, forgot I was on AT. I'll put my serious face on next time I post, and save these jeuvinille threads for another board.

My shame is unbearable. 🙁

What is "wate dot com"?

Is there a more traditional outlet publishing this?

Are you...seriously this stupid?

It says, right there, it's the Knoxville, TN ABC news affiliate.

I mean...it was a silly story to post in the first place, but by God man, way to take the moron cake.

Momma wants justice for her son being killed robbing a store?

okay!

*SLAP MOMMA 'CROSSdaFACE* "Next time teach your kids not to rob stores!!"
[justice served]

You guys should really go spend some time & talk with "those people". I don't mean middle class blacks, i mean the really poor ones in the city{where rent is surprisingly dirt cheap}

A few young girls I know,
20yr old, has 2 kids, 6 yr old & 4, yep. Baby daddy in jail for robbing metro pcs stores a few years back. Works 20 hours a week making $7.25; general aggressive ghetto attitude when dealing with others, specifically customers leads her to getting fired constantly.
27 yr old, 3 kids, all different fathers. The last baby daddy was actually married to her. He has 5 kids with 3 different women & doesn't pay child support. She's pissed he doesn't pay.

there are many many more cases. Almost every black girl I meet in her 20's in that part of town has multiple kids & no father. All work minimum wage jobs. I used to feel sorry for them until I actually talked with them.

Edit: Honestly, most of these kids should have been taken away from their parents.

I can't make fun of her for wishing this situation had ended differently. She actually seems like a nice enough lady and she's been through a terrible personal tragedy. That being said, her son 100% created the situation that led to his death (by, himself, pointing a loaded gun at a gas station clerk), and I would never second-guess the man who killed him (potentially saving the innocent clerk's life in the process).
This.

I don't blame the mom for her grief (though she was probably a pretty terrible parent for her son to be doing that kind of stuff). I do, however, view him getting taken out as good riddance for society. I understand her feeling of loss, but as a society it was a gain.

Not all felons are kept from legally owning guns. Non violent offenses like writing a bad check over $500 is a felony, but will not keep you from owning a gun. At least not in every state.

OK, but in this particular story a felon with a criminal history used a firearm illegally to prevent a violent store robbing. Without knowing the exact history of the shooter (for all we know he got into a bar fight once and had a couple minor drug charges mixed in), I would assume that today he is someone with respect for basic civility, and should be trusted to be a decent citizen. If someone is so violent that they can't be trusted to exist in society without special rules and restrictions for them, they shouldn't exist in society.

EDIT:

According to court records, Scruggs is a felon with a lengthy local criminal history, including convictions for unlawful weapons possession in 1992 and 1996, as well as for two counts of aggravated assault in 2003.

Doesn't sound like anything unforgivable.

See the bolded/underlined in your post? Those are SELF-INFLICTED wounds. When you are young and broke, you do NOT need kids (as in PLURAL) and baby mamas/daddies problems. You need a way out of the poor area by education and skill.

I did talk to a few blacks that were poor and observed how they were able to break the poverty chain. Here is a good example.

A young black female I met in college. She made to classes by several buses (several transfers) then after classes, went to work part time to pay for school by buses again. She did all of that for several years and did not miss any classes. Her single mom worked several jobs to pay the bills and help her daughter to pay for college. She was not the smartest but was one of the hardest working kid in class. She kept her nose clean, worked hard, graduated college and was able to get a job and move out of the ghetto. Last time I checked, she was working as a programmer for a large utility company in the South.

My point? Bill Gates said it best.

If you’re born poor, it’s not your mistake. But if you die poor, it is your mistake.

Does that apply to white people who are like that?

Would your made up Bill Gates apply to someone who dies from a disease and is bankrupted by health care costs? Or someone who had their savings stolen by a corporation taking their 401k?

and put where?

I feel sorry for the mom--yes, that's got to suck, obviously. No mother should lose a son. I do think this is misleading--it sounds to me that she wants the shooter charged, or at least further investigation. At the very least it doesn't seem that she's condoning her son's actions.

I just don't think the reality of her grief and response is as sensational as this article wants to present it.

Either way, I still find the fake sign funny...even if it is petty. whatever.

“Tamon was wrong, but that man should have dialed 911,” she said earlier this week. “He should not have taken the law into his own hands and killed my son. But he wanted to be George Zimmerman.”

Justice for Tamon. :awe:

So, the quote is not an all-encompassing quote for life. But, are you arguing it does not apply to this particular situation? Or no?
