He probably meant celebrities. I don't see where he mentioned anything about love, though. Regardless, I think the ignorant thing to do would be to presume that going through the trouble of, basically, importing a kid from a different country when there are plenty of viable children already in your country of residence whose lives could greatly be improved by being adopted by people who will actually care about them was done for a reason that wasn't flawed.

Sorry, but you are very wrong. A lady I worked with adopted a child from Kazhakstan (too lazy to check spelling), and I promise you she was not in it for the "publicity" or "image." I can tell you she shed very real tears during the entire process of finding a child and adopting him.

Like him, ignorance is scary. Do you know how difficult it is to adopt a child in this country? How the adopting parents have very little rights that in some states the biological mother can even take the child back? Every state has different rules/laws which makes the legal process a very long and expensive.

International adoption can also happen more quickly than in your own state at a lower cost with less legal red tape and risk. International adoption can also mean life or death for that child or the child that isn't able to get into an orphanage b/c of space due to no one willing to adopt a child in the orphanage.
