So, whats really funny about this is that apparently lots more people bought this game than they anticipated on the day it came out. What's really funny is that anyone with a brain expected anything less than what happened. What's even funnier is that EA really doesn't care because they already got your money, fools. What's even funnierer is they openly berate their customer base, but lie about something as blatant as DRM. I could go on, but then you'd just call me a hater.

This revelation will put EA and Maxis in a difficult position. They’ve been adamant all along that the game won’t work without a server connection and offloads a “significant amount of the calculations.” That’s clearly not true, so why has it been used as a reason to explain why an always-connected game was necessary?

I haven't really been keeping up on the whole Simcity debacle, but what's hilarious to me is that EA would claim the always online DRM they are using is somehow beneficial because the server offloads "significant" calculations in the game. Really? Most gamers likely have way more CPU power than what is required for those calculations, I mean comeon.. we're talking about a basic city building strategy game here. What a joke..

Isn't there already enough sim threads...and these are only lies if you were naive enough to believe them.

Not sure my sarcasm meter is working today . . . but from the article:

It even saves changes edits outside of ordinary boundaries.

.
Sure, you can play, but you have to be connected to save, hence the joke of EA (somehow) justifying always online.

Pretty much what I expected as far as the claims the game couldn't run on a PC and must offload processing.

It's surprising that he was able to build outside of the boundaries though. Figured that would be hardcoded, to make the game fit on consoles and be the 'same game', or for future DLCs of larger city plots.

not that I should have to say this, but it was believing in what EA has been saying in which the prior statement would make you applicable.

Ok, got ya. My bad. I did a quick once over of what you said and I thought you were talking about the offline mod hack for some reason.

And no, I never believe in anything that EA says anymore.. :)

I have to admit this has been the most fun I had watching a launch. I went through the World of Warcraft MMO launch and been a part of the server ques, major crashed ect... but this time around I get to be a spectator and from what I can see the WoW launch was pretty tame compared to this. So now someone can bulldoze someone's city WTFLOL.

Actually...that idea is the most appealing thing to me about the game. A game where you can be the God that destroys some random persons pride and joy (hopefully they have enough military and Winchester brothers) to fight it.

All while trying to have the same thing not happen to your city....hmm...quick someone call EA...I think I have the beginnings of Sim City 6

I don't go through life assuming everything I'm being told is a lie. Believing them when they said a lot of computations were done on their servers doesn't make me naive in the slightest.

lots of computering needed to write bits to their server for saving. It's not a lie, really.

EA needs to start banning accounts that uses 'debug mode'...
At least, I bet some EA suit..(or dress) is thinking of doing that right now as a way to "stop" the bleeding.

Make sure they ban the entire Origin account though. I wouldn't want my Mass Effect 3 online experience tainted with some hacker who tried to get the most out of SimCity.
