Just to be clear then.
Do you consider ~ and the word around to be equal or does the ~ have to used be here at all times?
~, around, approx, roughly, near, about, etc...all work
This isn't meant to be semantic or pedantic, but when it obviously bothers people and enough folks have gone to an effort to make the point about it then it behooves that member to accommodate the expressed desire for the clarifier to be added.
Its about being practical rather than hung-up on semantics. Compromise has to enter into the equation at some point, otherwise the discussion is pointless.
Surely you meant to have a point regarding your gas purchasing experience, but that point was completely lost on those with whom you intended to impress it upon when they took exception to your rounding the numbers involved without delineating them as being rounded and you took exception to them taking such exception.
Unproductive at that point. Compromise must be struck, in the absence of compromise we have the posting guidelines to fall back on as the "law of the land" in settling disputes.
Ideally it can be settled on the field without the refs pulling out their yellow or red cards. But if this was ideal then we wouldn't need the refs.
In theory there is no difference between practice and theory. In practice, there is.
