Yeah there does seem to be a ton of lemming trains whenever these things happen.

Unfortunately I didn't get to take full advantage of the 5x as I was working on my Masters Thesis. Got maybe 1/4 of my tanks each day was all I had time for.

I now have to decide what tier 10 to go after. I have:

JP E100 (newest)
WT auf E100
E100
BatChat
OBJ 430
T110E3

Was thinking about going after one of the Russian heavy tanks (IS-4 or IS-7, probably leaning towards the IS-4), or the 183. Maybe the 183 since I essentially have zero british things.

for SURE get the 183, it's a blast - literally.
the grind is rough, but the 183 makes it totally worth it.

i've found i can break even if i'm doing the 1750avg damage per shot.
i try not to fire at super low health targets as it's 8k a shot lmao, i try to wait until someone destroys it, but if to much time passes (5-7 seconds), then i will fire and destroy it.

i picked up 6mos premium since it's 15% off right now so i have 205 days left now

Yeah that's what was most holding me back from wanting to get the 183: the grind. The grind for the Russian heavy's looks like it isn't too bad, but the 183 looks like it could be a bit rough.

But I'll probably go for that. The thing is evil

JT 8.8 makes a lot of money and, if you can find hull down positions, has very troll armor for a Tier VIII.

SU-101y for the lulz. Tank is silly, and has a silly powerful gun. If you get top tier, you go around one shotting half your enemies.

Guys, do you know if this game is particularly taxing on the gpu? Based on my specs do you think I would need more computing power? I'm asking because for the 2nd time, my comp crashed in game. Not a BSOD, just a hard crash to a black screen and my monitor said NO HDMI. I hear my fans on full bore during gaming so I assume I'm pushing it hard.

Only running settings on medium, too :-/ I can't afford a new gpu right now because some other money things have come up. I could probably afford some new fans..But I'll check out temps tonight while I'm in game. I'm putting my money on that I'm pushing the gpu too hard..

After 9.0 my videocard fans run on full speed, so I guess it does tax the GPU quite a lot.

And considering you're running a 7990... That kind of says a lot.

Looks like I'll have to reduce my settings further or buy a new gpu. Latter one means quitting the game for a while until I can save up..

it doesn't support CF, so only one GPU is taxed.

Try turning v-sync on in the game settings. It might keep your GPU happier.

Also, any advice for playing the SPGs? I like them a lot, but the current one I'm using take 30 seconds to reload and 9 seconds to aim. Basically I can't hit anything... I'm using one of the tier II german ones. Pz something or other.

Had a brit one, but I sold it because it was said on here the Auf (german) one was better. I didn't realize it was a high tier so I just stuck with playing german SPGs so I could work my way up to that one.

I'm on all tier II tanks now and I dont have any upgrades so the going is slow...Played for an hour last night and barely got any XP :-/

ya the best thing is facing E3's. i hate facing those in other tanks, but taking your time aiming at him and letting him hit you for 750 while you roll him for 1700+ is just the bees knees. i took out 2 jgpze100's last night with 1700 rolls on the first shots, i was outside of spotting range as my meds lit them up for me

lower your settings, on my laptop i have everything set to min except draw distance.
that or lower your resolution since you didn't specify what you run at.

Yeah I'll have to turn on v sync if it's not on, and lower my settings until I can save up for a new gpu. Which will be a while... :-/

Finished the On Track to the Bat Chat 155-58 last night. 250,000 experience in French arty in two weeks is pretty rough, especially considering I've never played that line and started from scratch. But I finished it with about 8 hours to spare and got the free LeFH. That arty is FUN. It fires so quick and is very accurate. I can see why it was pulled from normal purchase.

wow that's a lot of xp. i start the obj430 on track @ tier 8 with the obj416.
i'm currently at 60k or so, so i need to grind quite a bit as well.

I'm thinking the game might be more CPU bound. The reason is that I've been experimenting with a lot of settings lately between lowering graphics from "low" to "minimal" and that didn't have very much of an effect on my FPS. I expected to see some performance gain when switching between medium to low to minimal and still get similar results. What worked better was installing various mods such as "no fog" and also the fix for the low FPS problem when in sniper (zoom-in) mode.

Admittedly, my computer was built in 2006 and is rocking an AMD 4850 and a core2duo e6300 with 4GB RAM so the hardware is weak by today's standards.

Like most other players I noticed a difference in performance when the 9.0 patch hit and any time I'm viewing cities or villages my FPS suffers dramatically. Since transitioning from low to minimal seems to have no effect, I'm guessing I'm more CPU bound. I believe that this indicates the problem has more to do with bad code and poorly optimized software.

Also, are there tanks that are best, per it's given function (light, medium, heavy, etc etc)? I feel like this is one of those games where there are probably a few clear cut tanks that are better than others, while a majority of them are just suited to a certain type of player.

Like for me, I loved the T1. It was fast and fairly powerful... Even though I was experimenting with other light tanks, they just seemed to not be as good. Either the upgrades they got weren't as good, or the base weapons and functionality wasn't as high, so gaining resarch points is tougher.

That's really where you'll find the most advice condensed in one place.

In my opinion, a great tank line to focus on for a beginner through to tier 10 is the American heavies. I finished that line last month when I unlocked the t110E5. It's a great tank and is heavily used in clan wars. The main strategy to use for the American heavies is "hull down", that is, keep your chassis hidden as best you can and only expose your turret. The Tier 7 and tier 8 (t29 and t32) have very strong turrets that are very difficult to pen. The T29 is considered by many to be op for tier7. In my opinion, the American heavy line is easy mode.

You are going to find that the most popular medium tanks in the game are the Soviets. The T-54 is great. The tier 10 - t62a and object 140 are considered the best mediums in the game and are staples of clan wars. These are the mediums that are recommended to new players the most.

Also, there are very many fun tanks and great lines to explore. Everyone has their own opinions. Try not to put too much stock into whiners who complain that certain tanks suck after only playing a few battles into them. Each tank in the game has it's strengths and weaknesses and they all have their place.

Take the French lights/mediums/heavies for example. I'd say that they are challenging for beginners since they have very little armor. Once you master their play style they can really perform. I've completed both the medium and heavy lines of French tanks.

Another overlooked line that is underrated in my opinion is the British medium line. I just unlocked the tier10 this morning. In my opinion they are some of the best mediums in the game, although they take skill to play effectively. The tier 6 - cromwell is awesome and one of the funnest tanks I've played. The tier 7 and 8 comet and centurian are also great and grinding them was a breeze. The tier 9 Centurion 7/1 is an excellent medium and has a great reputation on the forums. This is probably my favorite tank line at the moment.
