Agreed, from stock to maxed, I have retained a 65% win ratio in my p2. The Panther I I had a 62% win ratio. They play COMPLETELY different from eachother, the P1 is a sniping tank that is unique among mediums, the P2 is a brawler from hell with that 88.WTF??
The Panther 2 is the BEST tier 8 medium in the game. The gun got buffed and it's awesome, it's fast, good armor and even has good acceleration. The tank is mobile and able to punch holes in just about any other tank.
I'm not sure, but I hope I misread that and you weren't talking about the Panther 2.
The long 88 is an incredible sniper as well. It's quite possibly my favorite gun in the game. The gun is VERY center heavy, and I've hit drive hatches on E-75/KTs fairly reliably (1/2 shots) from over 500m away. The best shots was me sniping off a hulled down E-75 on swamp from across the map... he never knew what hit him.
Though as a brawler, the P2 is a bit too sluggish to go up against russian or american mediums. I'd delegate them to ramming/sniping duty. If you're going to brawl, make sure you ram the shit out of them. You're the heaviest medium in the class! A gentle tap will do 50 damage! Ram those fucking T-59s!
Also the S-70 has a 50-50 chance of penetrating the cheeks of the pike nose if it's not pointed straight at you. The lower glacis is too bouncy up close for you to pen. Don't bother shooting the driver's hatch though, it's NOT a weak spot.

If anything, working through to the E-50 should be reward enough. I only have a Panther1 atm, but I"m only 20k or so xp away from unlocking the P2. The nice thing is for the P2 everything except the turret and tracks is already unlocked from the tiger1/2 series.
Out of all the tier 9 mediums I fear the E-50 the most. Its the only one I've bounced 128/130mm shots off of. I also only barely made it out of a 1v1 alive in my IS4. We both started with full life and he continously circled me. I killed him with ~200hp left. The only thing that saved me was he bounced his last shot. I think the E-50 has a very good mix of speed/armor/pen/damage. I would have grinded one out already, but I'm saving my credits to afford my first tier10.

The problem is the E-50 is actually not very nimble at all. It turns like a truck and I've on more than one occasion accidentally rammed teammates because the thing turns in such a huge freaking circle. It has good pickup but it literally turns like the A-20.
The gun and the armor are both AMAZING, but i find myself angling it like the IS-4 which is a big no-no. (squishy sides) Old habits die hard, especially when my ammo rack gets hit. 🙁
I love tapping things with this tank though. Moving at 10 km/h into a T-59 and he loses 60 hp. I use the lovetaps to finish off tanks with 10~ hp left.
Ramming something at the full 60km/h going down hill and the other guy will lose up to 300 hp, lighter tanks will outright explode.

I rammed a 50B going 60 in my E50. That was downright fun.

I'm actually curious how much damage that did to both of ya'll. One rammed full speed into the front of my E75. It didn't work out too well for him.
wait so we're supposed to hull down with the E50? i thought we played it like the e75 with a slight angle to bounce shots no ? i've noticed when i angle slightly or 45 degrees, i still get pen'd all the time hmm

Lol speaking of E-50s, I just solo'd one with my T29. D:
This had to have been the worse E-50 driver ever. He started at 100% and so did I.
I ended up with about 50% of my health after this and that was due to my arty hitting me heh. This guy tried to ram me but lost too much speed so really didn't do much but let me face hug him. His shots start bouncing while he's trying to get off me he keeps exposing his side armor. I don't even bother trying to shoot him frontally except for one shot to the cupola that hurts him.
So each of my next 105 shots were hitting his side armor and in short work he was dead. That's the biggest problem with the E-50 is that very weak side armor. You have to be an expert at the backing away while angling but not turning too much to expose that armor.
I like the P2 for this more since it's far more nimble than the E-50. The E-50 is very very sluggish in comparison and has a harder time with quicker medium tanks.
The P2 against Type 59s, T-44s and Pershings will always win. The E-50, not so sure against Tier 9 mediums. Just too easy for the other tanks to get to that squishy armor though you can do a pretty good job of keeping your front to them you'll be ok.
Overall for its matchups tier vs. tier the Panther 2 is a superior tank and more fun to play.
no no that's not what I meant. I tend to be very mobile in the E-50, if i do have to take a shot I try to eat it with the front hull. But when I'm angling my E-50 I tend to angle too much like I do in the IS-4 and I take shells in the side instead. Optimally it's around 20 degrees, any more than that and your sides will get exposed. Hulling down in an e-50 is not the best idea, your turret's not that strong and your frontal glacis armor is pretty good. I've bounced a lot of random shots, but tier 9 heavy guns go through them like its made of toilet paper.
You can bounce medium rounds easily though, provided its not a french round.

I sense an E-50 driver using autoaim. . . I rant against autoaim from time to time because it leads to laughable moments like this. Every gun the E-50 could be using should lance right through the hull armor of a T29. Or for that matter, the sides or rear of the turret. Autoaim being what it is would put the crosshair right on that 279 armor mantlet though, I bet.
Or he was being a dick and running the short 75 😛

You have to be a special type of retarded to lose a 1v1 battle in a tier 9 to a T29. I did have a very frustrating T29 encounter once in my E75. Had 4 zero damage critical hits in a row on him (so almost a full minute and ~2k potential dam wasted). I did eventually kill him with my 3 subsequent shots, but he wasted alot my time and credits. He however never hurt me.
Oh zero damage crits how I hate thee!

the best gun on the panther 2 is the 88/L71, a gun that ran out of steam on my tier 7 tiger. this tank is inferior to the t-44 and type 59 in every way. the only thing this tank is good for is squashing low level tanks, which is hardly sport. the only mercy is that most modules are already researched.
I tend to disagree. The 88/L71 is great on the panther II, and the T-44 is still using the 100mm which is pretty much inferior in every way in comparison, and the LB1 only provides a ROF increase. The 88 can penetrate the T-44 and type 59 from every possible angle, and has enough punch to even damage IS-4s provided you shoot them form the side. The only armor it can't penetrate reliably are tier 9 frontal armors, but what are you doing slugging it out frontally with a tier 9 anyway? The rate of fire is pretty great as well, and after the alpha damage buff it's a lot better for PABs if it comes down to it.
You DO need to know soft spots and you DO need to know how to fight certain tanks. It's not a face roller like the IS-4. The tank, first and foremost, is a sniper. It's not as nimble as the T-44 so don't drive it like one. If a type 59 is beating you, you're doing something TERRIBLY wrong as you can pen him everywhere except the turret and have a superior ROF. And if he's hugging you, the copula is the way to go. 100% penetration guaranteed.
Brawling is not the tank's strong point, you should be keeping your distance, letting others spot for you and flanking with the great top speed.

oh yeah, you have to let the gun do the work. my own playstyle preference is 50/50 brawling and camping, compared to hardly ever camping in fps. it's my nature to fight every tank possible, and when it's not possible i blame the game for putting us together 😛
i've noticed this tank seems to have a pretty poor view/detection formula - red dots on the minimap are not visible at ranges they have been in other tanks (like shooting across that desert canyon was wicked frustrating) and i feel like the panther 2 is extra-visible. it's hard for me to accurately gauge, since the game mechanics conspire against the player. i need to get the tracks before i can mount the 88/L71 but the 75mm is ok in it's place.
well, the panther 2 is almost the size of the tiger II. It's sexy, you can't hide it very well.
The top turret has a bit more view range than the stock (i think), which is probably why you're not seeing much, and they DID reduce the view range on this thing a while back. I think there's a theoretical max view range that's different from tank to tank because of the turrets view ranges. The camo values are a nonissue if they're been lit up and are already on your minimap. I've never really noticed an issue with the view range, pretty much anything I can see and hit on other tanks I can see/hit on the PII. Though I'll admit 600+ meter engagements are rare for me, my longest range is around 681m~ on my IS-4 the other day.
You can check by the little number under the sniper view. It tells you how many meters the target is from your tank. It might just be a perception thing but you should be able to see up to 500-600 no issues.

idk, i'm getting ammo rack'd in nearly every game and gun/gunner in half of the games. lots of fires, too. this is 1 hit from nearly anything.
