Yea it must be because that video you linked shows the guy playing online. Unless he is using pure analog to hit.
 
You can turn off the visual indicator but as far as I know you can't use timing online.

This is according to operation sports who says on the forum it has always been this way

I did when we were on, but I will check again. What's the point of having that yellow thing then if you can just turn it off and have your hitting exactly the same as pure timing? Seems strange to me.

I don't really care much, I just find it weird.

Cause it isn't the same. You still aim your zone but your opponent does not see where you are putting it. You can also turn off the yellow markers for the pitches so the hitter has no clue which way the ball will break.
 
Probably for two players on one console. I dont see where people are throwing or hitting until they actually do it. I just don't get all the options in this game lol.

Yeah and there isn't a guide as to what is available for online play and what doesn't apply.

Playing online I would have no idea what the hitter is doing anyway, I just have the pitching view and obviously vice versa because sze could not see what I was trying to show him when I was hitting.

If you were playing in the same room, then I could see the issue, but otherwise it would be completely irrelevant as to what indicators I had on my screen.

I don't know about all the zone stuff online. You would think you'd need to pick a zone in order to get a solid hit. I didn't move the left stick at all and I smacked a couple home runs. Just seems weird to me

Yea I know and I did the same thing after you told me yours was on zone too. Actually if you go to the home screen and then over to user settings and options it says if you set hit interface to timing then only zone will be available online. I've changed it to all the others. The text should say there is only zone hitting online.
 
Can someone explain what you mean by timing, no timing online. Maybe I've been playing wrong all along. When I bat I swing when it looks like my player will make contact with ball. In other words trying to time it just right with my vision. Is there some kind of indicator telling you when to swing or something... ?

Timing means you don't aim you just watch the pitch and hit the buttons based on how the pitch comes in. Zone you use the left stick to aim and the buttons, pure analog just the right stick no aiming.

You can use four ways to perform an at bat.

Timing: You press the swing button at the correct time to score a hit. You don't have to aim as the cpu will do that part for you.
Zone: you get a spot on the screen in the strike zone indicating your batter's sweet spot. You attempt to aim the sweet spot while timing your hit with the swing button.
Pure Analog: you don't have to aim the sweet spot, but you use the analog stick to perform a swing. You need to press down on the right analog stick to wind up your hitter and then forward on the stick to swing.
Zone Plus Analog: You use analog batting but must aim your sweet spot with the left analog stick.

In the following picture you can see the hitter's sweet spot. It is the yellow buckshot over the plate. A better contact hitter will have a bigger sweet spot(plate coverage indicator). You can use the Buckshot shown below, a simple yellow circle, an outline, wedge or a reticle.

I've literally never seen that on my screen in any of the games I've played online. I'm playing a online game now and it's still not there. The lag is a little bad today for some reason. I'm gonna reset the router after this game and see if that's the issue
 
Oh well it isnt a big deal I'm doing good online, I've only played against the guys here. I got a loss on my record because when me and sze5003 played the game dropped when I was winning and I still got a loss. That is stupid
 
I'm horrible online. Played one more game after work today and the connection was lost. I kept hitting to zone but didn't use the left stick to aim at all.
 
Too bad you don't have timing hitting like I do. :awe:

I just had an online game freeze on me. Very annoying. Seems to be a bit glitchy.

I sure wish there was a damned baseball game for 360. This is a JOKE being without one this year -- even as shitty as MLB2K13 was. Give me (and my son) SOMETHING to play.

Seriously thinking about picking up a PS3 just to play this single game...

It's worth it IMHO. In fact, this game is worth buying a PS4 for... I haven't played ANY sports game this good in a decade or more.
 
Yea if you were going to get this I would get it for the ps4. The visuals are much better. This is my first baseball game and its holding me over fine until watch dogs. I feel like rtts is a little boring as a first baseman but maybe that is because I'm only in the double A league still.

I'm horrible online since I can't use timing for hitting but I still have a lot of fun playing.
 
Yeah, it's a pretty badass game. Played one online game last night and ended up having one extremely lucky inning where I scored seven runs to get the win. Still have some troubles fielding, but I guess I will get there eventually.

I sure hate when the pitcher is up to hit; go DH or go home!
