You should be able to do the home run derby, pitching and hitting stuff at around 40%. Though I suspect your install/download is finished by now.

Yea I was playing a demo game. Boy do I suck horribly. Can't tell when I'm suppose to pitch correctly or how to line up shots.

Use the one button pitching its so simple. If your on tonight let me know I'll jump on and play a game with you. So far my SP still sucks, he botched a pitch and it got destroyed for a homer. I really like this game, if you mess up pitching your gonna pay for it more often then not just like real baseball. This is a great game

I'll be on around 1 or so. Been at work since 3am. Anyway I set up my settings to use timing for hitting and meter for pitches. Set difficulty to beginner so I level up as I go. I have not started rtts yet.

Played an exhibition game with my friend last night. I don't like the hitting aim, seems like if you move the right stick anywhere but center and extremely slowly up, your guy will foul. Sometimes leaving it untouched he can hit better.

I did notice some weird stuttering. Not online, this was in offline mode. Restarted the game twice and it was laggy as all hell. I could tell so because I actually watched the ball come in slow motion in a bat practice session. Had to rebuild the database and I think it was good after that.

My game showed up yesterday, so I started a first baseman in RTTS and played for a while (after spending an hour designing my player of course 😀 ). I am getting better at hitting, but holy crap am I awful in the field and at base running.

I really need to figure out how to run the bases properly. I hit a ball deep off the wall in centre and it should have easily been a double, but my dude ran part way to second, then stopped and started to go back or something. No idea what I did wrong. Also got picked off from first once when I could not get back in time and accidentally tried to steal a base once and got nailed there. Really bad.

Super fun though and looks and sounds fantastic. Have not experienced any sort of stuttering playing offline yet, though there was one glitchy replay where it was showing my ball going foul, but it just sort of sat a few feet off the ground near a stool for a while. :hmm:

The only lag I've seen so far has been in the replays. Keithtalent I sent you a friend request too.
I'm at work til 4 pm after that I'm going hard on this game tonight

I usually hold the left analog stick up to continue to second on what should be a double. I haven't tried stealing bases yet. Sometimes all I wanna do is just bat so I skip baserunning and fielding.. lol

I'm pretty horrible at fielding with my 1B. Always seem to move in the wrong direction..

Yeah, when fielding with my first baseman I seem to overrun the base all the time. I am terrified to try stealing, mainly because my guy is very slow. The only time I tried to steal was completely by accident.

Can you do stuff like jump up for an overthrown ball? I am scared to just press buttons because I might screw something up and ruin my chances of advancing to the next level. 😀

KT

I believe you can jump.. think it might be R2 or something.

I'm not even bothering with baserunning until my speed is like 50. I think its.. 10 right now. Sure makes the game go by quicker too.

Cool, thanks. Yeah, probably a good idea. I think I bumped up to 15, but that's not much.

I wish they still had a paper insert with the game that just had all of the basic controls listed. Would make my life easier.

If your player is slow, it's not worth trying to steal. You need decent numbers in speed and baserunning / aggressiveness to make it worth the risk. I'm at 76 and can get down to second in AA even with a poor jump. The trouble really is trying to read the pitcher, so I take a lead but hold the left stick down or towards first base so he'll dive back as soon as the pitcher starts his move to first. If he starts his move and my guy doesn't dive back to first, I shove the left stick forward to take off for second (holding the left stick up almost the entire way, only letting go once I initiate a slide with the right stick).

If you hold the left stick up all the way through the slide, your player will jump to his feet and try to advance to third. I learned that the hard way when I stole second but held the stick too long and he hopped up to head to third. He immediately got caught in a rundown and I lost points for getting caught stealing.

Cool, thanks for the tips. Yeah, I was not really planning on trying to steal much for a while; my dude is SLOW. I was more concerned with just trying to get a double when it looks like I should be able to get a double. Seems like I could be holding the stick for too long, so I will give that a shot.

Edit: going out for dinner after work, but I will likely jump on this tonight after that. I am interested to try a full game online and see how that goes.

Stealing bases was probably the thing I hated most in MLB 2K. They made it incredibly difficult to do, unless it was off the rare pitcher who had a terrible wind-up from the stretch (Felix Hernandez was one). In My Player, I basically got all of my baserunning points from advancing on a ball in-play, and only stole when the goal for the appearance was a steal or a hit-and-run.

I don't mess with stealing bases yet. I'm happy with my beginner customized sliders and I've been just playing exhibitions on my own getting to know the game more. I also played a few home run derby games. I think I'll start the road to the show soon. The game is a lot of fun but I need to learn more about substituting players and using the bull pen correctly. Do you guys use timing for batting or zone? I'm doing much better using just timing. I can't seem to get the aim right when using zones. I feel like I don't know if I should aim before the hit or during.

I use timing for batting. Just finished a exhibition game with Cleveland against Boston and threw a no hitter with Salazar. 16 strike outs and he pitched the whole game. I was sweating bullets the last couple innings

I rented the show for a couple of nights and was having so much fun I made the purchase yesterday. Graphics in this game are nice and I don't really find myself wanting more. Gameplay is even better. I haven't enjoyed a sports game this much since the days of the NES. (nostalgia) The batting is outstanding and I actually find myself concentrating so hard I raise up out of the recliner to try and get underneath the ball. Soundtrack is also a perfect fit for the game. and I actually enjoy some of the tunes unlike that crap with the NBA 2k games.

This game is a solid 9/10 and not only the best sports game on the PS4, but the best game as of writing. Highly recommended if anyone is on the fence about buying this.

How long are the games if you don't use quick counts?

About a hour if you don't use quick count maybe a little more. With quick count I can play a game in around 20 minutes. I had to take a break from it for a little bit today I'm playing plants vs zombies right now

I hate going into the 7th with a no hitter. I have so much freaking anxiety that I'm gonna blow it.. and 90% of the time I do anyways. Yesterday was going into the 8th, perfect game. First pitch, double. A$(^(*!%(#*!!

Yeah I know what you mean I just blew a no hitter with my sp in rtts in the 8th inning with a single. I sent you a FR just now too. It would be nice to get a game night going with the guys here

You guys should add me. Psn is selayan. My gf is over for the weekend so I'm not sure if I'll have time to play tonite but we should get a game going at one point.

What diffculty settings are you folks using? This my first baseball game in probably 10 years so I'm just on Rookie.

I use beginner and that just levels you up to rookie based on how you play. Customize your sliders too. The first two set all the way to the right. Then the cpu contact and power to the left. I left the others to default. Like pitch consistency and timing since lowering them will cause pitches to be all over the place. I have some other modifications to the sliders I'll try and take a pic and upload it when I can.

Set pitching setting to meter and batting to timing.

I haven't changed any settings or sliders so whatever the default is that's what I play it on. Trust me the CPU smacks some of the pitches I throw, I've had two homers hit on me in 4 games played on rtts.
My only no hitters have been on exhibition, I've come close on rtts but someone always sneaks one in on me.
I've got a really low era, its close to 1.0 but I pitched when I played until I injured my back so it definitely helps having actual experience pitching. The game is definitely like playing real baseball and I love it. This is by far the best sports game I've played on console

Anyone know how I can change the throwing buttons? When I press X it throws to 2nd base (triangle goes to Home), which is awful and I keep making errors because of it. I can't seem to find anywhere to change it though. :\ The buttons are laid out like a diamond already, it makes no sense to invert them, even if they think they are giving you the "Fielder's View" or whatever.
