MLB The Show 2014

I plan to get my copy at best buy, after I trade in Killzone. My last version of the show was 2009, so I look forward to new eye candy.
 
I started my road to the show with a starting pitcher. Gameplay is very smooth, the game looks awesome too. I started off at a 55 overall so my pitcher was throwing shit all over the place like I expected which is fine, makes it that much better when I upgrade him and he gets decent.

I played trtts for about two hours and had no issues at all. Ended the night playing some home run derby and that was pretty fun too. I never played a the show game before at all but I'm very glad I picked this up. For the few hours I played it in really got into it and enjoyed it.

If your on the fence about this game go out and rent it, I don't regret buying it at all the game plays very good
 
Got up a half hour early this morning to play it some more. I'm very impressed with this game. Its a lot of fun if you like baseball
 
Very impressed so far.. though I've only got to just getting drafted in RTTS. Though I may go back and pick the Giants instead.. prefer them over the Twins lol.

My one complaint is that it look over an hour to get to the point where I could start RTTS because it was downloading or installing or something. Also gotta find a way to install the game to the HD if that is possible. Load times are a bit much..

Does it not install when you first put the disc in? Or you mean completely install the game. Not sure if we can do that.

A complete install would be nice. Does it automatically install game files though? I really haven't read up much on it but '13 had a separate action needed to install on the PS3..

Reading that load times get better when it begins to cache everything.
 
I'm not sure either. If I have time tonite to stop by gamestop I'll pick it up. If not I'm definately getting it tomorrow

It took forever to install! I was able to set up my RTTS second baseman, but couldn't play forever. At about 72% install, I was able to play an exhibition game (Mariners beat the Padres in Seattle, thanks to 2 HRs by Cano. Quick Counts are pretty cool).

Once that game was over, I was able to jump in and start my RTTS career. I played through the showcase and despite collecting only 2 hits, I had enough decent at bats and perfect fielding to get myself drafted by the Red Sox organization with the 29th pick of the second round.

I'm now 2-3 weeks into my first season and am doing ok. I hit to HRs so far and a few doubles to go along with some singles. More surprisingly, I've drawn two walks already (I'm the opposite of patient at the plate)! My problem is going to be that Pedroia is likely going to retain a stranglehold on 2B at the Major League level, so hopefully I'll get a better chance as a SS (my secondary position).

Alright, I'm off to get some more games in before bed!
 
I'm getting the game today. What's the best position to start as? I was thinking I'll make a first baseman and just start the road to the show. Or should I play something else first to get used to how the game is?

I'm interested in this question as well. Last time I played The Show, about 5 or so years ago, I played as a pitcher, which was cool enough, but since the game is likely different now I would like to know what people's thoughts are on the best position to go with for starting out fresh.

I don't think there'd be a "best" position to start with. I'd just find myself a position my favorite team needed, then try to go there and play it. Last time I did MLB 2K's My Player, I think I did CF for the Cubs. If I played this, I'd probably do 2B, in the hopes of supplanting that batless Darwin Barney.

Maybe try an exhibition game with Player Lock active to get a feel for how it plays from that perspective (throwing to the appropriate base, baserunning, movement, how the game moves along between your at bats or fielding opportunities...).

Or just play an exhibition game with Quick Counts on to get a feel for the overall game in a short timeframe.

Is it possible to assign yourself to a particular team? I don't know if/where that is in the RTTS option or setup screen. The default is to play the 3 game Showcase and then go through the draft.
 
I'd do a first basemen honestly, that way your involved on ground balls and you get to hit all the time. I started with a pitcher but I'm going to make a first basemen and play both of them

Yes. You can pick a team. My pitcher was going to be a top 5 pick but I wanted to play for the Giants so I selected that. It'll still go through the draft but you get picked by your team. The worst part is it doesn't seem like you can just skip to your selection..

Agreed. Doing 1B and SP careers at the same time. 1B gets involved a lot more. You can make it so you don't play defense if you want to speed the game up more too.

That is the part I hated during 2k14 as well. At least during the gm simulation you could have it auto complete for you. But for the player story mode you pretty much had to sit through it.
 
My PS4 copy arrived today, but no time to play yet with work. :\

I'll dive into it tonight though. Anybody using any slider sets yet? From Operation Sports?

I never play RttS, I'm more of a managerial/GM guy.
 
Got the game after work. Takes forever to download and install something. Tried playing exhibition in the mean time but looks like I have to wait.
