I'll be rooting for the Tribe, because they're a small-market team. And because I once saw Dave Stieb throw a no-hitter in old Cleveland Stadium.
Gotta respect that, they are a small market team, and one of the original mlb teams.
Go Cubs! (been a fan my whole life, it's terminal)

I'm honestly happy with either team winning. As a Red Sox fan, I love Tito and Jon Lester. As a Mainer, I watched Anthony Rizzo on the Portland Sea Dogs AA minor league team. The Sox really blew it trading him... I'm rooting for a close 7 game series.

I'd be more partial to the Tribe if forced to choose but will be happy for whichever team wins. Seeing Rajai Davis get a ring would be nice, the dude gets no respect.

I was listening to the game on the radio and watching on tv, (fcku joe buck), and heard Scottie's rendition, I'd say he mangled it, but that's being kind.

Ozzy Osborne was the best.

Also: damn, Chip and Stoney were so fricking awesome. I pretty much watched every single game that season (no work during those months! :awe: ), so listening to those guys and their serial stories was like a meta reality show within the game. I actually needed a new update regarding Stoney's awful dentist every week or so. I think the intimacy with that team for that season is why I took that NLCS loss so hard. 😀

surprised I didn't see a World Series thread on the 1st page.
then saw this.

guess the mods didn't want the clutter of lots of post season threads?

cubs vs Indians
I bet this will be one of the least watched world series games since their markets aren't that big.

the only thing smaller would be brewers vs Indians?

Are you high? Is that your problem?

Seriously... how can someone think that the Cubs/Indians are going to be the least watched world series.
So many factors could make this the most watched worlds series ever
a) Chicago is far from a small market team
b) possibly the largest fan base of any pro sports team
c) the longest drought between championships
d) Cleveland has a similar drought
e) Cavs just won the NBA championship

So much derp in his statement.

*sorry, this post made little or no sense prior to the edit. working on negligible sleep

I think it's very cool it's in Cleveland and Chicago, 2 of the oldest MLB teams.
but at least they both have won a world series at least once in their history.
these teams have never won a world series:

# years in existence/team name
55 Texas Rangers never (franchise began 1961)
54 Houston Astros never (franchise began 1962)
47 Milwaukee Brewers never (franchise began 1969)
47 San Diego Padres never (franchise began 1969)
47 Washington Nationals never (franchise began 1969)
39 Seattle Mariners never (franchise began 1977)

um.. er.. Wash Nats 1969?! weren't they formed in 2005?
oh.. they were the Montreal Expos. ahh

Same here (big Cubs fan here)! And I have to say that the coaches and players on the Indians are all likable guys. Obviously I'm pulling for the Cubs to win, but it's hard to dislike this Indians team.

Edit: I'd also like to take this opportunity to further complain about the stupid All Star game rule. Here we have the Cubs, who had the most wins in baseball during the regular season, and are at a disadvantage from a home field perspective all because the AL won the All Star game.

dude, that's a whole different kettle of fish to puree.
Literally zero advantage to have the best record in baseball, from the wildcard series to homefield advantage in the series. there is fuckall for the best team in baseball

Yeah nah, gonna disagree with that...

And yet the Cubs haven't even been to the WS since any of those franchises came into existence. So, not an ounce of sympathy.

Wrigley Field alone is 2-3x as old as all of those franchises. Further, a Wrigley has never seen the Cubs win a WS.

I don't mind this so much because it does make the AS game more relevant. Plus, I guess it never bothered me all that much because since starting this thing, the NL has won most of the AS games, I think. Which is great. Fuck the AL, obv.
