Neither of those sounds like a threat to life... I hope a competent investigation provides more context.
"I thought he was going to get a gun" isn't gonna cut it.

Pulled over because of an air freshener hanging from his rear-view mirror that was "obstructing his view," aka DWB, then after shooting him they left his body on the street for 6 hours....

Laws like that are practically made up to allow cops to pull over whomever they feel like. I see people driving around all the time with shit hanging on the rearview mirror, hell it seems like 90% of cars have a mask hanging from the mirror nowadays.

The bits I've pieced together so far ...

They stopped him ... he complied initially enough for them to ID him. He panicked likely in fear of his life (which turned out to be a valid fear), he fled.

It should have stopped there. They knew who he was. They could have gove to his house and waited for him. He may have been less fearful at home with family and the arrest for the warrants may have been uneventful.

Yes, trhat could have gone bad too ... some families have been known to harbor fugitives and become violent defending them.

Yea, just saw the video and the twitter statement above is correct.

I don't think you can call it an "accident" to shoot someone with a gun instead of a taser though. More like negligent homicide. The chief of police explained that the handgun is holstered on the dominant side and the taser on the other side. I understand this, since you need the most control in the hand with the gun. OTOH, it seems like in a split second situation, it would make it more reflexive to draw the gun instead of the taser. Obviously, that is not excuse, as the officer has the responsibility to use the correct amount of force.
 
Reports coming out that the officer accidentally pulled her gun instead of his taser. Assume she is covered under qualified immunity? I bet she gets a slap on the wrist and ends up back on duty.

If the officer doesn't know the difference between her gun and her taser, or where they are located on her persons, that person should not be a fucking police officer.

From the video it does seem like she clearly meant to fire her taser and not her gun and it was a huge f-up on her part. But the end result is the same no matter what happened - she killed someone.

So... this was a mistake by law enforcement? Reminds me of the surgeon that removed a kidney instead of the appendix. Oops, sorry bout that fella.
 
I hated to do it but I watched the video and it does look like an accident. It also seems like she was on the force for a while so what the eff training did she receive? Clearly she had no business patrolling the streets.

This is not a good sign if the officer was a female. You might have pro-feminine groups protest along side with the police supporters claiming womens rights and asking for a fair trial. A group like "Women for Trump" would most likely be in the pro-police officer protest.
