As we know full well by now, Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman worked their tails off to get into ballerina shape for last year's "Black Swan."

And after pushing herself to drop 20 pounds for the role, Kunis tells Glamour U.K. that it's changed her outlook on the battle of the bulge - if you're not slimming down, you're not trying hard enough, she says.

"I don’t think I ever fully realized what a human body is capable of doing,” she says. “But I think I was also, in a beautiful way, incredibly naïve. I believed I could do anything. I never for one moment thought I couldn't do it. I believe in hard work. In self-drive and self-worth."

Don't get her wrong - she's a "huge foodie," she says, adding that she "loves food."

"But when people say 'I can't lose weight,' no, no, no, you can," Kunis emphasizes. "Your body can do everything and anything, you just have to want to do it."

But regardless of where you are with your fitness aspirations, it's essential to maintain a clear-headed outlook, Kunis says, which is one thing she's learned to cultivate after working in Hollywood for so long.

“I’m in an industry based on rejection. On negativity and let-downs," says Kunis, who turns 28 on August 14. "People are rejected every single day purely based on opinion, about who’s a good actress, who’s a bad actress, who’s pretty, who’s ugly, who’s fat, who’s skinny. So why go there? You have to have a positive outlook. Otherwise you’re in a very dark place.”

Read the full interview with Mila Kunis in the September issue of Glamour U.K., on sale now.

Pretty much true. People that are fat and can't lose weight are lazy and lack the willpower to do so. Has nothing to do with genes or glandular problems.

Man I like her. She's only 8 months older than me, too.

I would like to have an orgy with her, Natalie Portman, Olivia Wilde, and Scarlet. /nod

The only reason why I went to see "Friends with Benefits" with my wife was for Mila :)

NFS4 must hate fatties with a passion, he's always up in these debates like EatSpam in a circumcision thread.

While there is a great deal of truth to this (some overweight people would rather make excuses than do something about it), it is also easier for her to say because she has time to do it and probably a personal trainer to help her. For more normal people who may have to work and commute 12 hours a day, and then go home and fulfill familial responsibilities, it may be considerably more difficult. I usually manage to fit a half hour workout into my schedule (split between weights and running), but if I want to sleep at least 6 hours and still have some time to spend with my family, I probably couldn't do much more, other than on weekends, and even then only in the mornings before everyone gets up and all the schedules kick in.

That's pretty laughable coming from someone who's metabolism hasn't taken a nosedive due to ageing.

Of course, she's hot enough that she can get away with being youthfully ignorant. I forgive her :)

That's pretty narrow minded, and very naive of her to say.

She has a privileged life. I'm sure she was able to afford personal trainers, premade meals, and since she doesn't have an office to go to every day from 8-5, she's able to spend her day working out.

The average person wakes up, rushes out the door to work, has to find something to eat for lunch (and fast food choices outweigh good choices 10:1), get home around 6pm, is too tired to cook so he heats up a box of processed crap. By 7:30-8pm, you're too tired to work out, and the cycle repeats.

I've actually adjusted my schedule to eat healthy and work out daily, but it is a LOT of work, and it is very expensive. My grocery bill had nearly doubled because of all the fresh foods I have to buy.

So, she can go stuff her "it was so easy for me!" attitude. The average Joe can't afford her lifestyle, so it's a lot tougher to lose weight.

Weightlifting can be expensive but excercise is generally free.

sounds like a ton of excuses to me... if you really want it that bad, you will suck it up and do what needs to be done. Nothing good and lasting, comes easy

While it's tougher yes, it's still possible. That lack of energy normal people have is from eating shitty and not moving. Once you break through that for a couple weeks you'll HAVE the energy to keep going and it'll be easier to do. I know I've gotten lethargic and I'm definitely getting more tired and fat. When I moved I had energy to do stuff, even though I never had a ton of time. It's a struggle because when I get home all I want to do is watch something or play a game... which means I have no time to cook. So it's a lot of reheated garbage or eating out, both of which just makes it worse. There are things like crock pots, rice cookers, etc that make cooking for yourself easier.

Anyway, yes she is making it sound like it's easy which for most people it won't be. However she's right in that you have to WANT to do it and commit to get anywhere. It's not impossible, you just have to give a shit.

Time to do it if you have a family is not easy.

As it is, I'm lifting at 6am to 6:45, and doing cardio from 7:30 to 8:00. During school season, the PM cardio is going to be impossible, so I'm probably going to have to start getting up at 5am or something stupid.

Any physical achievement is not possible. I will never be Arnold because my body is not capable of going that far.

Go to your favorite "hot deals" website and look at all the "deals" on mounds of fast food (i.e. unhealthy, high in fat/sodium, etc.) posted there. Now, try and post in any of these threads about the price you pay for living this type of lifestyle and BAM, you get attacked left & right by most users who KNOW the facts but still (foolishly) feel that they are getting a great deal.

The average American knows why they are fat ... they just don't want to do what it takes to live a healthier lifestyle. It would take too much work ...

Sure it is... if you spent all the time that he spent on it you could looked ripped as well. You'd need a proper diet of more than Fruit Loops of course.

This is just another fat person excuse. Don't give me this, "she has a personal trainer" bullshit. Yeah, she may, but that doesn't mean you HAVE to have one to lose weight. If ANYONE wants to lose it, they can. They just don't want to and will come up with ANY excuse in the book to NOT lose the weight or workout. Yeah it may be easier for others due to their schedule, but it CAN be done.

I don't think anyone is debating the point that it takes work to lose weight. The problem is TIME. Most people don't have much of it.

Essentially, you figure a 9 hour day at work, 1 hour or so of commuting time, 1 hour or so to prepare meals (breakfast, lunch (if you make your own), dinner), 1 hour or so to eat breakfast and dinner, and then add on any activities you have to take part in with your family. That's a minimum of 12 hours right there.

Like Fritzo was saying, Kunis doesn't have shit to do except prepare for her next movie. She has countless hours left every day to devote to getting in shape. She has the funds to pay for a trainer, a dietitian, and a number of other health related items that not everyone has access to.

That's not to say it can't be done for the average joe, as it certainly can be done, but it is not as easy for someone who work 5+ days a week, 9+ hours a day, and has familial responsibilities.

Which is exactly why I said people who can't lose weight don't have the willpower or are too lazy. I lost 90lbs in 10 months, and I work full time, go to school at night (online, but still takes time), attend every soccer practice and game for my kid, and make sure i play with him for at least 20-30 minutes on weekdays. The expense thing is just another excuse too, my food budget didnt change hardly at all if any, and that was with both my wife and I changing our diets (permanently too, fad diets end and you get fat again, same with pills).

And as for the time thing, it's another excuse. If you can't find 30-45 minutes in a day, it's because you don't want to find 30-45 minutes in the day.
