Looks cheesey to me. A lot nicer interior than my Lightning, but that's not saying much. Modern american cars have nearly caught up to 10 year old European cars these days, as far as interior is concerned.

Do you have a huge family or something? Why do you need something so big?

it flips to V4 mode anytime you hit the brakes, start slowing down, are on level surfaces, or going downhill. it flips back to V8 mode anytime you touch the throttle, anytime it needs to accelerate, and once you hit 25mph while slowing down.

whatever handles this sounds like it will be pretty expensive when it breaks... (notice that say 'when' and not 'if')....

the ECU in ANY car is expensive... when your toyota breaks i bet it will be 10x more for the same part.

sniperruff. on the readout it says: V8 mode or V4 mode... what do you want it to say... V8 minus 4 cylinders mode??? cuz some americans would have no clue wtf that ment.

and weve never had bad luck with ANY GM vehicle we have owned, my dads avalanche was at 100k miles when he traded it in and never had anything go wrong that wasnt a wear and tear item over than the Cat. Convertor which was still under warranty, and his CV joint went at around 80k (i believe thats what went). hell, it still had original brakes and rotors, and he had those checked EVERY time it was serviced.

To appreciate this vehicle, you must have to drive alone a few miles each way, from your interest-only mortgaged home in a suburban subdivision to the mall or soccer practice over pristine, paved, 4 lane highways and winding side streets. Then you'll understand the joy an SUV owner gets from his vehicle.

or you could realise that we own a 17' trailer, and haul ATV's around with it, and then when we carry 5 or 6 people or 7 if we have to in it, or that its a VERY good ride. or that..

eh nevermind SUV haters dont listen.

Looks very nice. I had a '99 Tahoe, but the wife kept tearing the side view mirrors off because she said it was too big.

If it were up to me it would be my next vehicle seeing how we don't drive the family car for work anymore, but I think we're going to go with the Buick Lucerne.

yea, i know that there are those who cant drive the vehicle, the back up sensor is quite nice, it gets you about 1' from whatever behind you which is quite nice. however my grandfather is very interested in the Lucerne... hes 90 (almost) and is interested in a new car lol, why we dont know, but yea.

o yea, we owned a 99 until 02. the seats in this are a MILLION times more comfortable, the ride TENTHOUSAND times better, the road noise is SO different, theres like none. its basically a completely seperate vehicle.

The thread title "MIKEMIKE Drives a brand new 2007 Tahoe." made you worry about that? Are you retarded or something?

FYI, a vertical 4 does not exist...

wanna bet???

the DoD shuts off 4 cylinders, not one bank, but 4 cylinders. and go look up SAAB Sonnet's they had V4's

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=38&threadid=1818479&enterthread=y

theres your V4

in that case, the tahoe would be a V8 with 4 cylinders off.

I thought that was really obvious from the fact that he referred to V4 mode and V8 mode.

i would rather have "V8 w/ 4 cylinders deactivated mode"

Man Ive always wanted a tahoe. Now I want one even worse for college. We have a Bronco right now and it is WONDERFUL except for the fact that the backseat room doesn't have much to offer (it is a 2 door after all). I hate compact cars. Give me and SUV any day.

The indicator light might be tough to fit in the dash ;)

You must be a chump if you think Honda pumps out low-quality cars.
Its too bad American car companies won't realize that lay-offs and short-term revenue plans = bad for the American economy in the long run
Have fun driving your rust-prone small engine poor fuel economy Honduh

I love well-made American vehicles as much as the next guy, but poor fuel economy? Can I have some of what you are smoking?
Read about the amazing fuel economy of the new Tahoe, chump.

We have a 96 Diesel Tahoe in the family that still gets 22 MPG with 170k miles. I'm not really impressed with 20 MPG.

yes, diesel would be awesome, go complain to the tree huggers about that.

Complain to America's hate for diesel engines. Diesels can't meet the emissions requirements in only a few states, with none of them being yours. All companies have diesel engines, but Americans don't want them. It might change within a year or so because the low-sulfer diesel requirement throughout the country, but that's questionable. It would be great if companies started bringing them over though. There are some great diesel engines out there, especially for SUVs. They're also quite nice for compacts too (The diesel Civic, for example, gets more MPG, a huge amount more of torque and is faster).

If anything, you'll see treehuggers with things like old VW Rabbits using biofuels.
