ITT a bunch of judgmental assholes.

Welcome to life pal. In the real world people generally look at someone with tattoos and start to question your judgement. I guess if your career goals are working on engines or welding or driving a fork lift then tat it up.

Am I the only one that read the article thinking that this sounds like a good business to get in to? It seems like buy-in costs aren't all that high.

LOL. Maybe if you're applying for a job in 1950...

I work for a fortune 100 company and a shitload of people have tattoos, its not looked down upon that much anymore, especially if you can cover it with business casual clothing.

I'd say about 50% of the residents my wife worked with in residency had tattoos.

Its not looked down on if you can cover it with clothing....

Hmm, maybe it does affect your career after all. Funny you would say it doesnt, especially if you can hide them.

If it's not looked down upon then why cover them up? :whiste:

My boss has tattoos on both arms. He NEVER wears short sleeve shirts because he doesn't want his superiors to see them.

its changing. That judgmental generation is sunsetting and the tattoo-ed are taking over.

I don't have a tattoo. Neither does my gf. Just about everyone else I know does.(including my mother of all people who just got her first one last year)

This. Women are always feeling up my arms to get a look at my ink.

And for those of you talking about the job prospects of someone with tattoos, I'll just have to dry my tears with wads of hundred dollar bills.

I have tattoos on the inside of both forearms but I think opening up a removal shop is a great opportunity that I may look into. BTW my occupation basically requires a suit/tie everyday so mine are usually covered.

Regardless of gender ... evevery time I see a person with a tattoo I ask myself what they were thinking. Theres a guy at the gym that I frequent who keeps his head shaved so he can expose the tatto of some freakish-looking face on the back of his skull. The thing looks horrible and it hard to miss as its about 5" by 7". It takes up nearly the entire back of his skull.

Getting a tattoo that can't easily be covered up for a job interview is idiotic, and unless you're planning a career as a sailor, trucker or drug dealer I will judge you for getting one. Otherwise I find tattoos unattractive but not something I particularly care about. IMO the first woman sited in the article is dumb for getting that tattoo but even dumber for being pentecostal.

I think tats that are out of place and not there for the "look at me!!" reaction are ok.

It's private and personal to that person and they're not being an attention whore with it.

Both of you feel free to learn the English language and then reread what I said.

blah blah blah blah, its not looked down upon that much anymore, especially if you can cover it with business casual clothing.

:whiste: I read what you posted. You state that it's not looked down upon and then said that you can cover it up with business casual clothing.

Why would you need to cover it up if it's not looked down upon?

English mutherfucker! Do you speak it?

My sister's youngest daughter recently got a tattoo. She posted about it on FB and I gave her some shit about it. Nothing really negative, just questioning her motive and asking her to really give it some thought if this is something she wants to do. She did it anyway of course because 18 year olds are stupid and that's what they do.

We'll see how she feels about it 10 years or 20 years from now.

I like how they look. Haven't been able to think of anything I would want on myself though. Any ideas I've had in the past, when I was younger, would have been horrible now.

Feel free to learn how to compose a sentence that doesnt actually contradict itself and thus negate the point you were trying to make.

Many people get them as a tribute to an important event in their life that will always mean something. For the morons who just get them b/c they're young and dumb, that is something I'd lol at. But for people who do it to preserve a memory, I can see why they'd do that. Kind of like a wife of a guy who died in 9/11 and got his NYFD hat tatted on her. I am not going to judge someone who does such a thing.

Placement is another thing. In corporate culture, you're not going to get one on your face, hands, because that is always deemed unprofessional. However, you'd be surprised how many tats are looming under those dress shirts.
