I have just installed WinXP 64 Bit Edition (Beta) and everything seems to work, with the exception of my network adapter so I have no internet connection.
The system:
Processor AMD Athlon? 64 - FX-53 (Socket 939)
Motherboard Asus® A8V - Deluxe, Socket 939, VIA K800
Memory Corsair 1Gb PC/4000 XMS ProSeries (2 x 512Mb)
DVD Pioneer DVR-107 DVD-RW & CD-RW Drive
CD/RW Liteon 52/32/52 CD-RW Drive
Keyboard & Mouse Logitech® Cordless MX? Duo
LAN Adapter Intel Pro/100 S Desktop Adapter
Primary HD (Raid) 2 x 74 GB Western Digital® Raptor? SATA-150 10,000RPM 8Mb OEM
Secondary Hard Drive 160GB Seagate Barracuda V SATA-150 7200RPM 8Mb 9ms OEM
Graphics Adapter BFG 6800Ultra ? OC
Audio Card SoundBlaster® Audigy? 2 ZS Platinum Pro
OS MS Windows® XP Pro w/ CD & Manual (OEM)
Fedora Core 3 64 Bit Edition
MS Windows® XP Pro 64 Bit Edition
I know the Asus motherboard has an onboard Marvel LAN adapter, but I was having trouble with it being recognized in Linux, so I disabled it and dropped in a spare Intel Pro/100 S Desktop Adapter that I had kicking around. It has worked great in Win/XP and Fedora for months, but there doesn?t seem to be a driver for it included with the BETA version of Win/XP 64bit. I looked on the Intel site and found a link to a driver, but the readme file, it states that it is for the Intel Itanium processor based systems only. Has anyone tried it with the AMD Athlon 64? I?m going to give it a try this weekend, but was looking for any issues before I start.
