It is a big deal, but at the same time it isn't. IE isn't a performance critical app, so I'm not too concerned with having to use the 32bit version.

Does anyone know if Xp 64 will coexist peacefully with XP pro. I am planning on installing them on separate partitions of the same disk. I had an issue doing a similar thing with sever 2K3 and i was just wondering if anyone knows anything.

CaptainKirk, all of those updates are for the IA64 version, aka the Itanium version. None of those are applicable(or will even run) on the AMD64/x86-64/x64(or whatever MS is calling it this week) version. Microsoft will not be releasing any patches for the x64 betas, as they are an ongoing work in progress.

Oh, and before I forget, ATI released new beta Catalyst drivers last week.

Hey Folx -

Dunno where to put this one, so will stick it in the 64-bit XP topic. I have tried a 1/2 dozen programs for DVD and multimedia editing/viewing/burning. None have worked, not even WMP - it crashes after reading the file. All these files worked on XP-32. In addition, Real, Ulead, Roxio, and various other programs have crashed out or are not working properly. Am I doing something wrong - I realize they are all built on 32-bit platforms, but I thought this was supposed to be 100% backward compatible. No problems on install or running anything else (well - right now, I screwed up the BIOS on a reflash last night so nothing is working, but that's a seperate topic).

Thoughts, help, recommendations? THANKS!

What exactly as you trying to do? I'm using WMP for general media use, and Nero just fine(though Nero is still a 32bit program) for burning under XP64.

Thanks ViRGE - I am simply trying to view movies and rips. Maybe it's a CODEC issue? On the Nero site, what version/product of NERO? I have 6 somewhere I can try to put that on.

It was one of the latest versions of Nero 6. After you install 6, make sure you install the latest update before running it, and you should be good. As for your media player stuff, as long as you're running a 32bit media player(I don't recall XP64 shipping with a 64bit player), you should have access to any 32bit codecs you install(DiVX, XviD, etc). I believe Media Player Classic also works under XP64.

Hesseroni, I had no problem pulling down the WinXP 64 driver from that page. I've mirrored it on my website, though I don't understand why you'd need those drivers. The Info page says that the board has an integrated NV NIC, so you'd want these drivers from Nvidia, which would be drivers for all the nForce 3 components(SATA, IDE, LAN, etc).

i've tried both of those already. I installed the nforce driver pack thing and everything installed fine, but I still can't get my on board LAN to be recognized. It detects my pci ethernet controller, which by the way i don't have a driver for, but the onboard doesn't work, i tried installing the network adapter manually and using the amd64-8169(105) driver but it doesn't work... I'm kinda stumped....

What's the Device ID for your NIC then?

*Device ID is listed under the Details tab for that device in the Device Manager

PCI\VEN_1282&DEV_9102&SUBSYS_50323030&REV_40\4&3191A3E6,
but as for the onboard, whenever i try and install the amd64-8169(105)driver it tells me the device won't start

Are you sure your board is even working with 32bit Windows, and if so, does it show the same Device ID? I've chcked Nvidia's latest nForce 32bit drivers(i.e. ones that absolutely should work with your board) - the Vendor ID isn't valid for an Nvidia part, let alone the rest of that Device ID. All of Nvidia's parts are VEN_10DE; your stuff shouldn't even be working under 32bit XP if the Device ID isn't right.

i'm not not running 32 bit on that comp i'm in xp64 but the vendor code that comes up for the onboard controller after i install it is ven_10ec(that's using the "Realtek RTL8169/8110 family gigabit ethernet NIC" driver)
