<< It is just for students, after all it is for the release for VS.NET Academic, so it would only make sense that students can get in.... >>

sure - i realize it's targetted at students but they didn't mention that it was a strict requirement when i signed up - merely a guideline.

i wonder if ID from a non-us university counts.

<< yeapie, Tucson Az is first, I am going >>

And this is tomorrow @ 6:30. I'll let post an update for everyone as soon as I get back home 🙂

my roomate and i are going to the one at GMU as well.....but it looks like ill have to skip a class to do it ......o well😀

I'll be at ucla for it tomorrow. It's gonna be a boring 3.5 hours though... not to mention the 2 hour drive to get there.

Who all on HERE is going to Tucson event tomorrow? Me and three friends are driving down from Flagstaff (NAU) tomorrow as well....4 hours for free copies of $500+ software....I think its worth it 😀

I am going. Thanks to this site otherwise I would never have known. 3.5 hours of my time for all that software YEA😀

you people who are not even students are just ruining this for actual students. we are gonna have to wait in some long line because all these fake students will be there.

its for students. you arent students. that somehow strikes me as odd that so many of you are going

Some cheese with that whine Hans??

I'm not a student, but I am an academic researcher which makes me qualify as faculty, so I'm going. Nah nah, nah nah, nah nah 🙂.

Is anyone going to the Temple event from the Harrisburg area? I need a ride and would be willing to help out with gas etc

I'll be at UCLA...gonna drive down a bit early just in case. Oh and if you think it'll be boring, just take your pda and pretend you're taking notes while playing bejeweled. In other words, just be a normal student!

EDIT: It's tonight...(Monday)

I have a programming project due on wednesday, so I'm going to be there (ucla) with my laptop--- coding in Linux... hehe... Now I just need to find a nice anti-microsoft wallpaper. 😉

<< Has anyone been to an event yet ? What did you receive? >>

yes, anyone who has been please tell us what it was like!

Just got back.

6:30-7:00 Registration and lots of free food.
7-8:15 Live Demo
8:15-8:30 Raffle Drawings and goodie bag pick-up
8:30-10:00 Live Band and leftover food

Goodie Bag had Visual Studio .Net, XP Pro, T-shirt, Pen, highlighter, notepad, box of mints and literature.

Had to sit on the floor, no chairs--s*cks for us old farts.

BTW...they did check IDs and only let Academic faculty, staff and students in. Good news though, many no-shows and they let non-registered students in on a space available basis.

<< I signed up for the NYC one. About 150 spots left. Only bad thing is I'll have to skip class to go... Oh well 🙂
Anyone from NJIT going?

My email confirmation states that Remember, every event attendee will receive a full version of Visual
Studio .NET Academic, a full version of Windows XP Professional.

I hope I can win an Xbox or something. I wonder if one of the prizes will be a PDA running Windows pocket.

Im from NJIT and Im about to sign up..IM prolly goin to go...

Damn no more seats!! 🙁 I think im goin to go when the event is hosted and try to get in.

Just got back from UCLA event. Like creektech said it was pretty cool. They didn't even make us stay the whole time. Everybody just took off and left the band playing a horrible cover of "Moulin Rouge" As raffle prizes they gave away 2 x-boxes, 5 $100 amex gift checks and other assorted .NET doo-dads (fleece, duffel bag, cd case). Too bad I didn't win, but that thing was packed! Good luck to everybody who goes.

creektech, thanks for letting us know! i hope the Cambridge, MA one is just like that 🙂 (i can't wait! good thing i registered early)

creektech, since you're from Ohio, I'm assuming you went to the Miami Oxford event - did you notice a guy wearing a black leather jacket with a black hat? That was my friend 🙂 I assumed the demo was going to take a hell of a while but it was quite short and the free stuff was totally worth it.

Anyway, anybody know if WindowsXP and VisualStudio.Net Academic version requires the user to register with MS? If not, I'm gonna make a few copies for my friends at school (I'm assuming this would be legal since they're students).

Yep, not too bad, i guess the .NET stuff is kinda cool... we got our goodie bags when we entered. i was tempted just to leave, but decided hang out. the food was pretty good. but i felt bad for the band! HA! Talk about tough crowd...

Just got back from the UCLA seminar. They had a sign saying that you needed school ID, but I don't have one, and they didn't ask.

They gave the goodie bag as you walked in, so there was no reason for me to stick around.

Along with the programs, I got a t-shirt, a tin of mints, a pen, a pencil with a deelybob on top, and a notepad. Not a bad score.
