I want to hear some real complaints about Vista other than "it sucks" or similar bullshit. I've been using it for months now and haven't had a single problem. I have 2gb of RAM and it runs perfectly fine. You dumbasses get your panties in a wad if your memory usage goes over 25%, but that is a completely worthless point to argue since it is there to be used. I never restart my computer and constantly play games on it with zero problems.
Probably no more than 10% of PCs in use have 2GB RAM. I know at my company it's more like 2%.
Good point. My Vista installation uses about 700mb of ram, which is fine by me. It seems to be logical though that a new generation OS would run on new generation hardware, i.e. systems with more than 512mb of RAM.

Here's a real complaint, it's XP with a more flashy interface, WHY do we need Vista again? WHY couldn't have Microsoft made Aero & DX10 work in XP? I understand that doesn't lead to any money so there's little point. But Vista doesn't do anything new, I dual boot and honestly haven't gone into Vista for ages. I'm still wondering why I need Vista, and ultimately the interface grew old to me pretty quick.
The only reason I boot to Vista anymore is to play one game I can't get t run in my XP (Star Wars Republic Commando)
I don't dislike Vista, I just don't see the reason it exists, maybe in a year or 2 when we start seeing more Vista software I will get it, but as it stands I'm not sold on the interface and DX10 is about as worthless as a Physics card.
Thank you for actually voicing a valid complaint. I don't necessarily agree with you, but this is refreshing since most responses are usually "Vista sucks cause its a POS". Recursion: See Recursion.
Vista has features that make it more user friendly to people who have no clue, and even some features that make things easier for me as an advanced user. I'm not saying I have an opinion either way about upgrading it in the workplace, but honestly upgrading to a new OS in an office environment seems like a bad idea all the way around for at least a few years. There is simply too much code to fully debug it, and this is through no fault of Microsoft because it happens in OS/X and Linux as well. The difference is more people use a Microsoft OS so the flaws are exposed more rapidly. My point is Vista seems to have a place among home users who are willing to test the waters and learn the new features and interface, not that it is very complicated or anything but it's still different. Is it necessary? Well of course not. Is XP necessary over Windows 2000? No, but most people are currently using XP. In time everyone will go to Vista as they did with 98, ME, 2000, and so on.
Hardware is getting better and cheaper as the days go by, so Vista using more resources than might currently be available on some systems will be a non-issue. Right now it might be an issue, and I understand that, but in the long run it won't be.
