Yeah, I don't buy it.

Birtherism
Grab em by the pussy
BUILD THE WALL
LOCK HER UP
Muslim Ban
Mexican Rapists
on and on etc.

Is this how he "inspired" white middle class people to "be engaged in the political process."

Someone on Hillary's campaign said it early and perfectly....."I'd rather lose then win the way YOU did." I forget who said that...

Some of those white middle class people were inspired by that. They definitely were in places like Staten Island, suburban and rural parts of America.

Some of them voted because he was a "businessman, and a job creator with swagger. They stayed home in 2012, they stayed home in the nineties. They don't know much about politics.

from the bits I've seen, I'm truly surprised at how Cohen made many of the GOP congresspeople look really, really bad.

I can't help but compare this all to the recent AG hearings with Whitaker where the role was reversed (Democrat congresspeople made Whitaker look like a fool.)

Is this my own personal bias? someone feel differently?

No matter how smart you are you're gonna end up looking like a fool trying to argue against reality. I'm sure the GOP clowns in the hearing today didn't believe 95% of the bullshit they were spouting, but what are they gonna do? Grow a spine? All they care about is playing their part to not piss off their base.

Maybe Republicans and Democrats should have been focusing on job creation and representing the people, and we would not have a populist like Donald Trump rise up in the Electoral College.
See? Ignorance. And "your friends" are not any worse than you are. For example, right here in this very post you are demonstrating that you know nothing about job creation under Obama. Let's see if you even know how many jobs were created under Obama. Surprise us.

Take a moment to reflect on what it was that was exactly sold to you.

Job creation? really? Miners and coal workers and farmers and auto workers....all promised something and so far I don't think it has panned out all that well. They got a trade war and high tariffs instead. They got lies and promises and LIES.

Representing the people? again...he was saying this loud and clear during his campaign:

Birtherism
Grab em by the pussy
BUILD THE WALL
LOCK HER UP
Muslim Ban
Mexican Rapists
on and on etc.

Now is the time for some self reflection and some self assessment....you didn't want "job creation" and "representing the people" ... you voted for him....ask yourself honestly...what did you want to vote for exactly?

I don't buy the populist excuse.
Trump lied. You and people like you got taken advantage of.
Or you got exactly what you wanted, see above.

Yep, definitely, work on that syntax.

So Trump supporters bought into the lie. I'm sure they were inspired by the hate and lying Trump was spewing, but other middle class people saw him for the fraud he is and he lost the vote. If you wish to add ignorant and gullable middle class supported Trump, then sure. I can go for that. BTW, I didn't vote for Hillary either.

To summarize - the Republican strategy to discredit Cohen :

"You're obviously a liar. You must be lying about Trump breaking the law. We know this because Trump is a scumbag and you worked for him for 10 years. You have no credibility!

The main difference with Watergate. With those hearings, we learned new stuff and public opinion shifted. With these hearings, when it comes to most Republicans - No one's mind will be changed.

"So, you (Cohen) said he's a crook and a liar? Anything new? We knew that when we voted for him."

I am a centrist. I don't subscribe to either side. I lean conservative and liberal on some issues. Most Americans are like me. This is not a left-wing majority.
Your first problem is believing that the center resides somewhere between Democrats and Republicans. The reality is thatthe center is somewhere to the left of Democrats. Remaining in what you consider to be the center may make you better than Republicans but worse than Democrats. You don't want to be worse than Democrats, do you? How about you try to better than them instead?

I know job creation. Yes, there was a lot of jobs created under Obama, but there was too much excessive regulations. He overreacted to the Wall Street crash.

Unemployment could have been below 3%.

I'm an Independent......I have said in the past and I'll say it again... I don't subscribe to political parties. I live in a town in the Northeast that voted for Trump. I know these people. A lot of these people did not vote for a long time or in their lives. Like it or not, Trump inspired a lot of white middle class people to vote and be engaged in the political process. Politicians haven't been doing their job over the past 30 years.

Snookered 'em good, didn't he? Trump's con artistry is astounding.

Do you think republicans represented the people from January 2017 through January 2019?

I hope you answer this question and I hope you don’t try to #bothsides it.

There are memes with lines like that on facebook. My aunt shared such an image. I became so effing depressed. It shocks me how people (relatives, no less!) I consider to be good people voted for trump. Like, wtf led you to think he was in any way a good candidate?
Pretty sure most of my social circle 40 and below did not though, heh.

I voted for Hillary. However, I knew during the campaign she had some flaws. She could have campaigned more in places like Indiana, Missouri, Tennessee, etc. (places her husband won in '92 and '96, his own VP Gore couldn't even carry those states in '00.

You really have given yourself away as some sort of troll.

Alternatively you could just be an idiot. Either way though your opinions are dumb and not worth paying attention to.

They still dont apparently. They should just stay home like before.

That's why my first reaction to this clown in this thread was just to tell him to fuck off. He really is a stupid motherfucker. I mean, have we ever had 3% unemployment? Fucking lol. Even during WWII?

Oh wait. His good friend Joe Blow couldn't afford to fix his mudtruck because of all the wall street regulations

Ridiculous revisionist history. It was the Bush admin who intervened to save the banking industry & the economy from ruin. It was their regulatory policy that allowed the top down class warfare looting spree in the first place. They let the bankers & the speculators run wild.

In the U.S. a full-employment economy more realistically is closer to the 3 percent to 4 percent mark, a level reached only a handful of times during the past half-century, in the 1950s, the latter part of the 60s and during the heady years of the dot.com boom in the 90s.

May I please ask a question? What exactly was the state purpose of this hearing? I thought it was about collusion with the Russians?

Yes, unemployment can be 2%-3%. I'm not an idiot. I'm an American worried about jobs and the economy like everyone else here. The economy could have been much much better under Obama.

Part of Trump's election was racial and economic. That is what you don't understand.
