by the way

COULD THEY ADD MORE FUCKING BASS DROP TO THIS TRAILER PLEASE? I DON'T TAKE A MOVIE SERIOUSLY UNLESS THERE ARE AT LEAST 29 BASS DROPS IN ITS TRAILER.

What's to ruin? It was a mediocre cartoon and the movies were just cheesy action flicks. I grew up with the Turtles but have no delusions about their artistic merit lol. As far as summer blockbusters/popcorn flicks go I'd say this looks comparable to Transformers - cool to watch but not much more to it than that.

That yelping you hear is the sound of my childhood being raped like an 80lb akita by the neighbor.

My five-year-old grandson is a TMNT freak. He'll be all over this.

Ill probably go to it. For as cheesy and amount of helicopters and america flags there are with the explosions. Bay movies are entertaining.

Just saw the trailer. The turtles don't look that bad at all. People are trippin. The rest of the movie however...

I don't think the Turtles look bad, but it is odd that they got rid of Splinter and turned Shredder into a scrawny white businessman. With the removal of Splinter, Shredder doesn't really need to be Japanese, but that guy doesn't look like he'd be tough for those huge, bulky Turtles to beat. Unless they're going to make him more like Silver Samurai from the X-Men (or really the Wolverine movie) and have the suit be cybernetic.

EDIT:

I'm not sure I've ever actually seen the live action films. Watched the cartoon religiously though.

Cowabunga, dude! You should order some New-York-style pizza and watch the first movie! The second movie is okay until you meet Razor and Lockjaw. You even get Kino, the Short Round of the movie ... except not as annoying! The third is in feudal Japan!

looks okay to me. at least they didnt try to make the turtles realistic. if they took the 'what would ninja turtles be like if they really existed' angle, we would have gotten turtles that can't speak and look really reptilian.

Ok, you convinced me; just bought Blu-ray of the first movie. :D

Edit: weird, the 2nd and 3rd movies are $4 a piece more. :hmm:

The first turtle film is the only good one in my opinion. It had a strong sense of family and love none of the other ones even tried to recapture. This version is done with Bay, so you know it's going to be a mindless explosion fest. Just look at who he casts for female leads. He picks women solely for their looks. Acting ability and substance be damned.

I too noticed a suspicious lacking of pizza :hmm:

And the music was not nearly as hip: http://youtu.be/R_K6971WmAs

Edit: Childhood aside, I really would have liked ANYONE other than Megan Fox fill the role of April. Unless they are really switching up the dynamic of the franchise, I don't see Megan doing anything other than being distracting.

Looked exactly like Transformers, just with turtle instead of robots*shrug*

It will do well and there will be sequels

"Ruining" a cheesy 80's cartoon about anthropomorphic turtles? Impossible. (Yes I watched it.)
As nostalgic as I can be at times, these were not pieces of art.

I need to go back and watch the original tmnt. I remember enjoying it when I was younger. I have went back and watched some movies I enjoyed as a youth and they didn't hold up at all.
