That's the guy who would have oversaw the dispersal of the funds Congress just passed.
If that's him time for the House to put their foot down. Put IG back in place or get a 2 person panel to oversee funds (1D and 1R). If Trump refuses, House has the authority to defund the entire White House operations.

Fuck Trump. All the COVID-19 medical people can work for the House.

Just how blatant the corruption is is unbelievable. I’m sure Susan Collins is furiously furrowing her brow right now.

The big problem now though is in this like everything else Trump has burned his bridges because there’s now no way he can make credible commitments. I genuinely don’t know what the answer is here outside of, again, impeachment. If Congress demands he re-appoint the IG he will just remove him again. If congress demands oversight of the funds he will just direct the executive agencies not to comply.

Now basically we are in a situation where Trump is saying we can only rescue the economy if he gets to steal a whole bunch of it and then use much of the rest as political patronage to get himself re-elected.

Trump had every right to fire this dude. Your opinion on why has nothing to do with it. If it did he would have asked you before he fired him.

This is too easy to put down. I cant. Its not a fair game.

Barr defends Trump's firing of intel community watchdog as the 'right thing' to do

In an interview on Fox News that aired Thursday, Barr alleged that Atkinson had used his role in the intelligence community as "a commission to explore anything in the government and immediately report it to Congress without letting the executive branch look at it and determine whether there was any problem."

More evidence that Barr is a piece of shit. His views of the executive branch as essentially a monarchy are treasonous.

What’s worse is the DOJ’s argument is that the IG should not have reported it to Congress because the president is not a member of the ‘intelligence community’ and therefore not under the IG’s responsibilities.

What that line of argument means is that if a member of the federal government sees the president committing crimes there is no legal way for them to report it to anyone. I am not exaggerating, Barr thinks the president should be able to commit crimes in secret and people who notify the country should be punished.

Nixon could only dream of having such a stooge for an AG

Nixon's AG was pretty similar to Barr, he did go to prison for what he did for Nixon, after all.

What Nixon needed was stooges like Trump has in Congress. There's no way he would have been convicted if the Senate then was like the Senate now.

The only openings available in this administration are for "Acting Secretary of Something". I'm sure there hasn't been an actual Senate-confirmed appointment since Trump figured out this hack.

I'm sure all those unfilled positions throughout government have absolutely no bearing on the current situation.
Plus we got Jared. He's kind of like Mr. Wolf from Pulp Fiction.

Except he doesn't actually fix anything or solve any problems. Still waiting on peace in the middle east.

I really hope that when Biden wins he puts together a massive commission to investigate everything about this WH and actually jails all the grifters doing illegal shit. If we just let this slide it'll just embolden the next guy more. We also obviously need some fundamental changes to the law/constitution.

Agreed, but that would require Democrat super duper majorities in both the house and the Senate. Otherwise I think Republicans would resist tooth and nail against any kind of reform, even if it's meant to rebuild public trust in our institutions.

Why would they? They've been tearing down trust in our institutions since Reagan. Govt incompetence is a self fulfilling prophesy when they run it.

It is hard for me to think of anyone in the history of the US government more convinced of their abilities with less reason to be.
you're missing one very obvious and very orange person.
