I'm not saying that a kid getting killed is nothing to cry about - clearly it's a horrible incident whenever a youth meets an untimely end, but I'm having a hard time buying the Mexican outrage when that country has been a meat blender since 06 when the Federales took on the entire cartel community at once. Mass executions and assassinations are almost normal down there now. How many hundreds of other South American immigrants have been killed at the hands of Mexican border police?
There have been dozens of similar incidents where our Border guards have been assaulted with rocks - I think it's amazing that the death toll has been so low!

If indeed the shooting was unwarranted, then I say suspend and prosecute the officer to the fullest, but this really sounds like Mexico acting like a petulant hypocrite again. Outrage to America wanting border/immigration enforcement is what is fueling this, not the loss of a kid's life.

Like I said, I don't care what side of the boarder the kid was on he was throwing rocks, you know assault with a deadly weapon, and he got shot for it. His own fucking fault. Yes its unfortunate that someone dies over an incident like this. However, the old adage "Don't bring a knife (in this case rock) to a gunfight" kinda sticks here. Really should have registered in his mind that who he's throwing rocks at has a gun. Rocks can kill just like bullets do so I think the officer was justified in defending himself.

I do own a gun, I plan on buying two more over the summer(CA-Legal Walther P22 and P99). I've never shot at a human being hell I've never even thought of pulling it on someone, but if I had my gun on me and a bunch of people were throwing rocks at me and I had warned them to fucking stop you better believe I'd open fire on them. Throwing rocks is assault with a deadly weapon and can seriously injure or kill you. I'd rather air on the side of my own safety and kill the person/peoples throwing rocks at me.

I feel the recent AZ/Illegals Hysteria has caused people like the BP and others in this thread to DEVALUE life .. especially the lives of brown people on our border

Really, though - no other superpower leaves its borders so open to potential threats. It is simply ridiculous. Chinese and Russian borders are covered with armed guards - why not ours? We have even more of an incentive to do so, since people actually want to enter this country. I don't see any reason not to completely secure our borders, such that anyone trying to enter illegally is going to have to do more than run across a muddy riverbed when no one is looking.

The point is that they should never get to throwing rocks... your border should at least infer some semblance of respect in these people...

I think the BP guard is likely not very good at his job if he fires off his gun in response to rocks a few dozen feet away... Who here has not had a rock thrown at them at one point in their lives... there are other ways to deal with the situation. Those include firing off 'warning shots' (though this would be strictly forbidden by any Canadian BP... mind you it is mentioned as a crowd dispersal tool to soldiers), having more god damned guards and arresting people the old fashioned way, bringing out the various crowd dispersal weapons they are parading around Toronto lately.

If some kid got killed by police for this same thing I'd be damned pissed the kid was dead... but even more pissed the ineptness of the security allowed it to escalate as far as it did.

I'm not advocating you let immigrants in for free... just that legitimizing 'day work' would go a long way towards solving the lack of order. I'd personally be more inclined to punish folks for not meeting minimum wage laws and watch the immigrants disappear as locals start doing the same work now that they get paid for it.. But there are obviously huge problems with how something is being done... there is no reason folks have to die because of it.

You blame this problem on a lack of order on the border, yet you advocate our Border Patrol backing away from the border if Mexicans throw rocks. Apparently the only acceptable alternative is for the BP to throw rocks back, yet I somehow doubt that you'd be all copacetic if a fifteen year old kid took a rock to the face either. Then you advocate simply letting them in as day labor. Why would they then leave? All they'd have to do is throw rocks at anyone who tries to make them leave and you'd have us back off. Why not throw rocks when at the emergency room and asked to pay for services? Why not throw rocks when asked to pay for groceries, or denied free housing? If the laws of a society can be invalidated simply by throwing rocks, then that society isn't likely to stand.

We need a new plan. From now on, any illegals caught should immediately be trucked up and released on the Canadian side of our northern border. Let the enlightened pussies deal with the problem.

This is the crux of why the border patrol should not be assaulted with rocks and then assaulted by our left wing. The job they perform is not NEARLY fulfilled and the limited capacity they provide is under siege.

Disarming our defenses is worse than the dangers of terrorism. The ramfications of the left's assault is worse than September 11th. For MANY more Americans (Mexicans too for that matter) will either live in suffering or die as a result of our open border.
