Not good. This could have gotten a lot worse. And now Mexico is claiming the border agents crossed into mexico, US has video that shows that isn't the case. And mexican agents crossed into US territory and retrieved bullet casing.

This could continue to get ugly. Few people can try to claim that protecting our borders isn't one of the primary duties of the federal government and an act of war almost happened.

We have been effectively at war with Mexico since at least the 70s, but for political purposes we choose to ignore the reconquista.

The time is ripe to stop all transactions to mexico. Round up all the mexican citizens that aren't legal immigrants residing in the US and send them back. This is an act of war. Obama should claim his wartime powers as president and round the illegal immigrants up while we still can.

Lets here it for Reactionaries. What do you suggest, we pull our ambassadors and seal up the border? An Air Strike on Acapulco? Round up all Mexican Nationals and expel them?

I think this being called an act of war is certainly a bit of an overstatement. It's not like this kid was acting on behalf of the Mexican military. That said, things certainly could get tense. And I think we need to seriously beef up our border patrol and crack down on people acting foolish out there.

Pretty good ideas. I knew you'd change your stance some day.

If he was throwing rocks you're right.

Anyway according to the reports this officer didn't have any other option as it stated he was surrounded. I just hope it doesn't escalate to were they start shooting at our guards from across the border, especially in Cuadad Juarez where there are a lot of firearms in the hands of real criminals and drug gangs.
I hope you realize that our BP has been getting shot at by criminals coming across the borders, on almost a weekly basis, for decades.

Over the last 18 years, a BP buddy of mine has been in some serious firefights that may be comparable to the shit I've seen in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. Hell, if the same fights occurred in the Army, he'd have two Purple Hearts by now... nuts!

The USA-Mexico border is no fucking joke people. Sadly, most Americans can't even comprehend that we literally have a warzone along our Southern border.

Well I hope your nads will drop and you'll be the first to volunteer to go over there and fight. Somehow I think not, hell you'd probably need your mothers permission.

Perhaps you should read this. http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2010/06/09/world/americas/AP-Border-Patrol-Shooting.html?_r=1&hp

Mexican soldiers arrived at the scene and pointed their guns at the Border Patrol agents across the riverbank while bystanders screamed insults and hurled rocks and firecrackers, FBI spokeswoman Andrea Simmons said. She said the agents were forced to withdraw.

The video shows what appear to be members of Mexican law enforcement crossing onto the U.S. side, picking something up and returning to Mexico.

Mexican soldiers invaded our territory, stole our property, then threatened to shoot at us when we tried to retrieve it.

I love the term "disproportionate use of force"

If it wasn't disproportionate there wouldn't be a winner, a proportionate use of force is called a stalemate.

If I was offered the same pay as I make now to fight this invasion I'd jump at the chance to defend my country against the invaders.

I figured you would come back like that. It's always about the money for me because money = security. Time=money. When my direct security is threatened then money goes out the window and we come down to immediate defense threat.

What you can't get through your head is I will and do take care of my own. Currently money is a means to do that along with other things. I have worked long and damn hard to get to where I am with my career from pure abject poverty. I will never return to that place of being that damn poor.

So yeah, my patriotism is all about protecting me and mine. And by me and mine I mean my fellow countrymen. Flame away.

Obama caused most of this by his weakness. Other nations aren't stupid, they smell weakness and are testing the waters. North Korea, Iran, et. al. Obama is proving their test results in their favor. That fucker had the palestianen in the white house.

I thought everybody was supposed to love us when he got in office? Yeah, they love us alright, because that fucker won't do jack shit to our enemies.

Yeah you're all talk. TV's, the Internet, getting your girlfriend a Brazilian wax means nothing when it comes to patriotism. Of course what you preach isn't patriotism, it's Jingoism. You're a marshmallow in the worse way.

You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.

As I said I'm all about protecting me and mine. Paco comes across our border illegally, paco gets dead. Same as my personal property, you come and take my shit, you get dead.

It means exactly what I know it means. Look Festus, protecting what yours is fine, I don't see "Paco" or "Abdul" coming after your meager belongings so you can stop with the keyboard induced faux macho bullshit, we all know you are just a great pretender.

Eh.... I dunno man. I agree its bullshit and I agree we shouldn't allow Mexico to get away with this shit. That said... I still don't think its an act of war. Its more of the Mexican's overstepping their jurisdiction but doing so during heated tensions and waving a bigger bat. The US backed up and was like 'woah woah' this is our rodeo... wtf?

Now I'm not condoning what happened. But I still think calling this an act of war is a bit of a stretch. When another country does something I consider to be an act of war, I expect nothing less than us retaliating with war like actions. Would you be ok with us actually attacking Mexico for this supposed act of war?

Perhaps one day you'll realize that if you bravely bury your head in the sand, your ass is waving enticingly in the air, just begging to be screwed. If I thought either party was listening, I'd recommend adding four light infantry divisions, militarizing the border (it is after all Mexican soldiers firing at and threatening our Border Patrol, not Mexican policemen), and ending all Mexican immigration, legal or illegal. Then I would outlaw wire transfers to Mexico. Then, when I was satisfied the border was reasonably secure, I'd hold a six month registration period for illegals. After that I would start processing. Those who were not registered or who had any criminal infractions (including identity theft) or were on welfare or could show no history of work or had ANY evidence of gang activity would be deported - really deported, as in held in detention camps indefinitely until they can be deported, not issued dates to show up for deportation. The ones with a decent work record could apply for a green card and eventual citizenship after paying all back taxes, including fines and penalties like citizens or legal aliens AND paying a hefty processing fee and illegal entry penalty. Unfortunately both parties are like you - no harm no foul as long as it's Americans getting shot at.

I hope you realize that our BP has been getting shot at by criminals coming across the borders, on almost a weekly basis, for decades.

Amen brother. It's a war in which the USA purposely underarms its "soldiers" and undercuts them every chance it gets.
