For some reason this game reminds me of that JoWood game from years ago. Buggy as hell, but you got to control rats that blew up...

Anyway, i now have a GTX 460 so im looking for a DX 11 game, one with PhysX would be nice too. Is this a bust?

Edit: Devastation was the game with the "rat bombs."

A 460 is going to die in this game.. Tessellation, Depth of Field and Physx are too much for even a 480 to handle.

Why does every game need to be open ended? Sometimes a linear game is a nice and refreshing thing. No one complains that HL2 is linear and it is hail as one of the best FPS ever.

HL2 is linear but gives the feeling of open ended. that's fine. but having things be completely linear, with no ability to explore (invisible walls) is pretty crappy.

Mass Effect 2 was so damn good. I loved the first game and ME2 fixed what was broken, and really ramped up the story and action in a big way. They only dropped the ball on one thing in ME2 and that was the mining missions.

If ever there was a franchise that is ripe for a movie Mass Effect is the one.

i don't like the fact that ME2 gutted most of the RPG elements. there are only like 5 weapons and armors 🙁 loot is fun! (but not end-game diablo looting style.. that's no fun...for me anyway)

I upgraded from a 4890 to the 460 1GB and Dirt2 loaded WAY faster, and looked better, but ran the same. I know there is some discussion about Dirt2 and DX11 (graphical improvement), but i see some of the graphical improvements. I was also shocked at how much faster and better the "inside/outside the trailer" aspects were. Wishful thinking that it would apply to other games i suppose.

Metro is a killer game that kill systems. You cannot run it with everything turned on with a 460. You need a 480 SLI system to be able to turn everything on in Metro at any decent resolution.

yeah but you can turn off advanced DOF, tessellation and AA and will be just fine on very high settings. I played on high settings, AAA 16xAF at 1920x1080 with my gtx260. I actually even played half the game on very high settings and it was playable with only a couple of spots that were a tad sluggish.

Am I the only one who absolutely LOVES this game. I'm on my second play through and am really enjoying it! The atmosphere, graphics, story line... Everything!

I just purchased a Xonar STX and also have some ATH-AD700's on the way and I can't wait to try them out on this game.

BTW, I'm using a GTX 460 1GB on a Phenom II x2 3.2 Ghz sysem and Metro runs great. I did turn off DoF. There are a few choppy moments, but for the vast majority of the game, it runs smoothly.

i thought it was a good game. however, my experience was marred by not having enough ammo at certain points in the game where i had a tough time passing because of it.

its weird because i was very stingy with ammo and never wasted any. but i just ran out when i really needed it. combine that with some enemies taking a lot of bullets to go down, either that or there's some hitreg issue with the game.

I agree that some enemies are more of a PITA than others. Especially the librarians. I am on Ranger easy now but haven't made it to the library yet. Really hoping I don't have to pump them full of ammo like I did on my first play through on normal mode.

FYI, on Ranger Easy mode, all enemies so far go down with one shot (not sure on librarians) with the volt driver. And you get that weapon early on in the game so you can really conserve other ammo you come across.

i agree x10, not enough ammo. alot of the time i had to run around with just the knife

Oh no, you're not the only one. I remember that mission where you blow up the two tunnels during waves of monster onslaught. My reaction was, excuse me, there is no way i'm going out there. I got a good laugh though reviewing videos after my game on the "best" way to perform the mission. That holds true for the whole game. There's the way you tend to play it for the first time under stress andthe way you could play it if you if you think past the next dark corner, which doesn't involve the expenditure of great amounts of ammo.

there was more than enough ammo if you didn't spray willy-nilly and if you bought extra at the stores. they had a bullet exchange thing where you could barter for ammo.

Zero issues with ammo here either, and I didn't use any of the "retrievable" ammo weapons either. I will say this - I rarely bought anything and had a ton of cash for the last couple levels - I didn't realize I was at the last shop so I kept saving...etc. The fact that the money in this game is also the best ammo just kicks ass, I was in great shape for the final levels with military grade ammo to spare.

But I tend to be pretty careful about ammo so your mileage may vary...

as crazy as it sounds i'm thinking about playing through again on the new ranger mode they just released the other week. even though bullets are scarce, they deal more damage now so that should even it out.

You wont be dissapointed. I am about to finish it on Ranger Easy. I'll do Ranger Hardmode as soon as I finish up.

Use ur throwing knives for the librarians, aim for the head. They'll take exactly five of them to fall but you can recover the knives. If you ran out of knives, use the shotty at point blank range, that should teach them. Works on hardest difficulty. Don't waste money on ammo, there's plenty to be found. Get armored suit and better weapons, scoped one asap. That should save you plenty of military ammo
