Skurge: it's quite polished, actually, on a level you generally don't see in modern releases. I haven't run into any bugs.

One thing I will say: It could REALLY have used more content, like freeplay combat modes a la Batman, or several non-storyline gameplay modes like "stealth your way through this" or "retreive the box from the surface with not much air".

Hopefully it's moddable. I love the engine.

Oh, and does anyone know how the hell they get it to load so fast? Every save loads like LIGHTNING!

Believe it or not....you can stealth by alot of this game....but "it ain't easy".....nor should it be.

I also agree....the engine is great and mods would be very welcomed.

Oh, I know. I generally prefer stealth methods in games for the difficulty.

After seeing the Batman "stealth" gameplay mode, I'd like to see more of the same types of varied gameplay modes with one-off levels in more games. If you (as a dev) can create a simple framework for your games that greatly increases replayability, why not do so?

Finally picked this game up last week, and I'm just not understanding the hate. Yes, it is linear, but since when is this a bad thing? The game was designed to be linear, and they did a good job of using that to their advantage in providing an immersible experience. Not every game has to be GTA.

The game has a sense of forward motion that I'm really enjoying much more than many open world games that extend game play by making you fight the same infinitely re-spawning bad guys (Borderlands, Far Cry 2) or by making you run back and forth constantly to turn in quests and receive new ones (STALKER, The Whitcher).

The things I'm not too keen on:

ammo exchange system - seems sort of pointless
weapon info - would have been nice to have some idea if the weapon you might be swapping for is better or worse than the one you are using
gas mask - it's about as annoying as I thought it would be

overall though, the weak points are not deal breakers IMO.

I ran it on my eyefinity setup with high textures mid everything dx10 very well. On a single monitor ran well enough on my i7 with all the eye candy.

late to the party, just picked it up cheap. Man, that was a blast. Actual tension in an FPS, almost unheard of recently. Atmospheric, terrific graphics. I'm a fan.

Very much anticipating Metro 2034.

Play the game on hardcore. Makes it MUCH more interesting, as you can't simply run & gun. Stealth becomes the most viable option, IMO.

My on complaint is the lack of saves, but I suppose it prevents you from quicksaving and quickloading every time something goes wrong (like I usually do).

I used to do this on alot of titles till I realised it ruins immersion and breaks up the games flow and designed experience.

Picked it up on the Steam sale. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I was also in the mood for a linear shooting game where I didn't have the think so that probably helped. I loved the atmosphere. It was kind of short though... steam has me at 8.5 hours to complete and I explored every nook and cranny trying to pick up the most bullets possible.

Simple question: I am trying to run it on i7 860 @4ghz, 5850@ 920/1270. If my targetted rez is 1080p and I am not all that anal about AA, should I be running this in dx11?

I kinda remember hearing dx11 not looking so much better than dx10 on this one. Maybe I am wrong.

theres a handful of things that DX11 does over DX10. do a google search, not sure what exactly. and 1080p is about resolution and not IQ.

This looks like an awesome game. I have it installed on my computer, but it makes my graphics cards (5870 Crossfire) spin out of control so I can't hear the sound, so I haven't really played it, yet.

I hope my thread about alternative cooling gives results, hehe.

so you have no idea even though you have played the game, fine. we wouldn't really need any discussion here at all if we just googled for everything we needed to know :p

I was just looking for some quick answers here.. I know what DX11 brings to the table, my question was more of how well it was implemented on this particular title.

I've been playing this game for about 45 mins now....well, I've actually played about 5 minutes and spent about 40 minutes watching cinematics and walking slowly behind people while they talk. FFS developers, learn to tell stories without completing taking me out of the gameplay. Valve know how to to it, so just copy them.

Finally got up to some action - an extremely lame on-the-rails shooter part that bored me so much I quit.

Hoping this game gets a lot better. Being beautiful is not enough.

I wish I would have caught the $12.50 sale because I feel ripped off having paid $25 for it. I really wanted to like it but it was just dull and uninspiring. To those claiming this is the best game you have ever played all I can say is that you have to be freaking kidding me.

The muted gun sounds really killed any fun that a firefight could have had. The AI was horrifically bad plus they could soak up about 20 rounds from the AK and get right back like nothing happened. The animations and clipping were laughably bad at times with enemies passing through things and even one another.

i didnt have any expectations going into the game, so i didnt get disappointed. However i also only paid $25 bux. Ill probaly play one more time through just to get the "other" ending..Im glad they add support for the 360 controller. As of late ive been using my controller to play alot of my games. Only single player of course :)

I've just started playing it and for a laugh I tried very high on my 5850/Q6600.

It struggles :D

So what do you think is the better option? Playing very high on DX9 or just high on DX11?

I really enjoyed the game. My only complaint was the merchandise system. I had barely any bullets to buy anything for the entire game and I accumulated 300+ in the last stretch of the game, too late to do anything with them.

i've been playing this game as it came with my video card. a very good looking game and not bad. had to change the default FOV though because it got to RE5 like. aside from some stuttering, there isn't any technical issues. sometimes the enemies take too many bullets to kill, and it gets really annoying that bullets are so hard to come by but i guess that's part of the suspense of this game. one of the best looking games i've played as of late.

btw a lot of ppl aren't able to continue their game after the latest patch this week. i had to start it up in safe mode to get it working again.
