Interestingly, Dave Mustain co-wrote Call of Ktulu with James and Lars and actually recycled a lot of it for a Megadeth song, Hangar 18 (which is also awesome, by the way).
I've heard people mention how Hangar 18 and Call of the Ktulu are similar, but I just took a listen to it a few hours ago and the only things similar between the two is that they're both the best songs for each band.
The similarity is not immediately obvious, but the chordal structure is the same at the beginning. The difference is it is clean arpeggios in Ktulu and strummed, distorted chords in Hangar 18.
It's just bits and pieces. Other than those chords at the beginning they are entirely different stuff.
Dave used to recycle many things from his Metallica days. He rewrote 'The Four Horsemen' as 'The Mechanix' and he also used some bits from 'Phantom Lord' in 'This was My Life'.
He also claimed to have written 'Leper Messiah' and not getting any credit for it.
